my DS and his family are going to WDW the end of Feb

they got a package hotel tickets and dining plan for 2 adults and 1 child

I seem to remember a time where if you have a package that since the day you arrive/ day you leave depending on time are sometimes hard to go to a park

so from what I remember you can ask and the CM will take one day off your plan

either the day you get there or the day you leave

do they still do this or am I remembering something that never was :rotfl2:

thanks all

Usually if you're going for 5+ days, it works out to about $10 pp per day for each additional day, so it may be worthwhile to go to a park for a couple of hours (IF there is enough time to do so) - also would depend on age of child, on whether they can handle staying later at night.

Otherwise, I am sure (almost) that there would be no problem taking one of the days off (as long as they have the minimum number of days for the package).

Just an additional FYI: The dining plan in a package is usually for the # of nights that they would be staying, and not number of days.

Someone will correct me if I am incorrect.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

As PP said, the dining plan is for the number of nights you stay, and it cannot be shortened . The credits are good from the time they check in until midnight of the day they check out and can be used at any time in any order.

As for how many park days, that has always been up to the party. You don't have to go the same number of nights you stay. You can do less or more depending on what you have time and interest to do.

It sounds like you are asking if they can take one day of park tickets off their package because they might not have time to go to a park on their first or last day.

They can reduce the number of days on their park tickets as long as they keep the minimum required for the dining plan (1 day tickets for paid dining, 2 days for free dining). There is no penalty for changing the number of days if they are more than 45 days from their arrival date.

Once they are within 45 days of arrival there is a $50 change fee that is assessed if the package total goes down. Since DW tickets are front loaded, if they have 5-10 day tickets, the cost of the 5th through 10th days is only $10 per ticket per day. If they have 4 day tickets and want to reduce them to 3 day tickets, the cost is $20 per ticket per day so they would end up saving only $10 once the $50 change fee is deducted.

Unless they are sprinkled with pixie dust, they will not be able to take days off of the tickets once they arrive in DW.

If I misunderstood and you are asking about reducing the length of the dining plan, that isn't possible. The dining plan is based on the number of nights they are staying and cannot be for fewer nights. The only way to have a shorter dining plan is to make 2 separate reservations, 1 with the dining plan and the other for a room only.
