why does universal keep changing their on line specials?

this is aggravating. i was going to buy the 7/85 for someone and get that coupon booklet and now it's changed .......again.....


i am getting one booklet on the email postcard but wanted 2 of a specific coupon

I just purchased 3a1c 2park unlimited admission(7d) tickets thru the Universal Studios website store for a total of $370.56. I used the link for mastercard specials. At checkout, I used my MC. When I recieved my confirmation email there was a voucher for the savings booklet. These tickets have to be picked up at the electronic ticketing machines by the park entrance. I have to bring the MC I used to purchase these tickets. The voucher is redeemable at the Universal Studios store or the Islands trading Company inside the parks.

I'm a little upset with myself. I misunderstood the website. I thought I ordered etickets, but it states electronic PICKUP (Thats what I get for ordering at bedtime). They also are nonrefundable. There is no expiration date that I see on the email so I guess as long as I keep my MC account, I could pick up these tickets anytime. Is that right? I booked RPR 7/13-7/18 so I'll pick them up then, but I'm more comfortable having the tickets in hand.

BTW, the voucher for the savings booklet has an expiration of December 31, 2007

E-tickets are electronic pickup. Perhaps you wanted print-at-home. I think you'll like the electronic tickets better anyway as the print at home are cheaper paper and also rather big to carry around. The e-tickets will be on regular ticket stock and are more durable. Since you will be using the ticket for 7 days, you'll like having the more durable ticket.

If you lose or cancel the credit card you ordered it with, you can still pick them up at the Guest Service window even years after you ordered them. Don't worry.


You can also get the discount booklet at Guest Services not just Trading Company or the Universal store.

Thanks for the clarification on the tickets Phamton. I did mean print at home. The etickets will definately be better. I'm so tired I should just go to sleep ...BUT I'm excited that we booked US this year! We usually go to WDW but felt a need for a change. I'm an obsessive planner and haven't been to US since they opened.

That link is also on the front page of www.universalorlando.com if you click on the littler mastercard symbol. It isn't exclusive to mousesavers.

I don't have mastercard. I was hoping to get the coupon book without it.

I've been looking at that MC deal also. I have a couple questions that the "terms" don't seem to answer.

I need 5 tickets. Can I purchase them all separately and get 5 coupon books. It appears that you are sent something in the mail which you must then redeem for the actual booklet. Is there a limit on the number of coupon booklets you can have? I don't think I would need 5 booklets for a week's stay, but would love to share with other's here. Are there rules against that?

Regarding the tickets themselves, I noticed on the "terms" section that an ID is required at the gate. I will have 3 children, DD15, DD11, DD9 and they do not have ID's. Will this present a problem? Also, I keep seeing the same ticket for different prices. I've seen it for $85, $85.99 and $86 plus tax. I think the MC deal is the $85.99. Why do the prices vary and why do some require tax to be paid and others no tax is charged?

The Mastercard deal is still good.........just purchased 5 $86. tickets today with M/C Book, for our upcoming trip around Dec07/Jan08. With elect. pick-up they are 86.98+ tax. The $150. coupon booklet is good until 12/31/2007 and only 1 booklet per order ("traveling group").........NOT per person! I was hesitant to purchase the tickets, thinking there may be a better deal in the works, after the $86. 7-day ticket offer is gone. But that is a great deal......didnt want to pass it up. Cant figure what kind of better deal they can come up with. We NEED a 5-7 day pass, and none of our 3 kids would qualify for the "free kids" ticket deal if they bring that out again.
Even without the coupon book.......this is a great deal. Note: the tickets are non-transferable,non refundable.......once you buy them, you are stuck with them.......thats prob a good thing !!!! I am sure, with my luck, they will come out with a better deal now,since I just comitted to 5 tickets !!! I dont care, I feel like this deal was to good to pass up!
Here is copy of some of the perks with the M/C coupon book.......hope it works! Looks like some of the coupons are similar to using an aaa or aph in the resturants or stores at universal properties. Looks like 15% off most everything using the coupon book.........aaa is 10%, so this is a good deal.

The only bummer is it looks like you have to pick up the voucher INSIDE one of the parks........I was planning to get our tickets and voucher earlier than when we arrive to U/O........we will be at WDW for 10 days before we do 1 week at U/O. Still havent picked resorts yet. We may try HRH or PBH, as we have stayed at RP club before........PB looks nice! Kids want HRH! We will see........still plenty of time to plan what resort!

some people have said you can pick up the coupon booklet at guest services.

my coupon said i can redeem it at one of the two merch places at IOA or the Studios or when i check into the hotel.

if mine said i can redeem it at hotel check in, i would think you could also.


i received a postcard from UO in february and went to the site. it was about vacation package planning. since i already had booked a room, the site still took me to the special. from there, it gave me the coupon that is the same as the mc promo one like you have.

the picture on my coupon is one of the 3 hotels logo. it says redeem at the hotel at check in.

the one you posted looks just like the one i got last year but last year it was pink.

i only used 3 coupons out of last years coupon booklet.
the rest i am looking at now.

coupons for buy an adult dinner get a kid dinner free at the hotels.
free wine at pbh with dinner, % off at kitchen lunch and one also for dinner.
looking at the expired coupons in front of me right now are: the 2 for 1, i couldn't use as i went solo last year.
15 % off the merch stores in the parks, % off of city walk places, 10% off at Islands at rph.....etc.
last years resturants included:15% off at cafe 4, burger digs, mythos, confisco grille, kitchen/hrh,
free house wine with meal at trattoria del porto,10% off emach and bolios. 1-% off margaritaville, nascar get 10% off entire meal or free kids meal, 2 kid limit, 15% off merch at us store, trading place/ioa....and other coupons.

they might have changed some of the places around for this years promo in the coupon booklet but since 2003 up to last year, they were the same.

i can't believe i didn't use the mythos coupon, maybe i used my ap......what a blonde i am .......

i used the AAA last year and received 10% off and used the AP and received 20% off most of the places. one reason i didn't use the other coupons in my booklet.

fyi: if you have this year's entertainment book, there is a small coupon for 15% off one of the following resturants: la bamba, monsters cafe, circus mcgurkus, pizza predattoria.
you can use that coupon at any of the 4 mentioned places. expires 12/31/07
the coupon specifies good for food and beverage, but non alcoholic beverage

We are staying at WDW first during Christmas, then over to Universal after New Years.
Still hoping I can use the coupons *slightly* after 12/31/2007, as long as I *use* the voucher before 12/31/2007.

yes, the coupons all expire on 12/31 of this year.

but, i hate to say this but it happened to me, i had expired coupons with me and gave the wrong coupon last year at the merch store and they took it.
i have the last years coupon unused with me at home....

the print is so small on the coupons, i guess they didn't look closely at it.
i didn't realize it until now.

saying that, i guess you could try to use the coupons even if they are expired and let the tm let you know if it is invalid.

the coupon booklets start at the beginning of the year and expire at the end of that year. i have been getting the booklets for four years now.
when i do surveys in the park, i am told i can pick up the coupon booklet at the merch store. was told that last year but already had the coupon booklet from a ticket sale so i did not pick up another booklet.

the coupon i have states, pick up at check in at the hotel.
now if the hotel is out of the booklets, i would have to pick it up at gs or in the park.

i would assume you could get yours at the hotel also. if you can't, then you can still pick them up at the other places.

Thats kind of a bummer for us.......we are going right between 2007/2008. I could try to get the 2007 book early and hope they honor it in 2008, or maybe just wait it out and see if they still give me the 2008 book ??? Oh-well, I figured it was a bonus anyway, I am not going to worry about it. The 85.99 ticket deal is a bargain anyway! If for some reason the ticket book doesnt work out for us, I will just use my AAA card everywhere for the 10%.

Macraven,do you have any pics of some of the hard "coupons" you could share ? Is this stupid or what........ I am sure some of us would like to see a sample of what they look like ???
