I called a travel agent (never worked with one before) that is a certified Disney something-or-the-other. She was super nice, but I have a question. We want to go to WDW in Jan 08, I know their rates aren't out yet, but she told me she'd take my info and get back to me in August. She was going to put together a quote based on this past January with the understanding that it's 2007 rates (just so I can get an idea on budgeting). Reading posts from this board, it sounds like people are making reservations already, how can that be if 08 rates aren't out yet? I guess I thought that if I called a TA, they would be able to get us in versus trying to reserve online myself. She assured me that she would get us in, I just want to cover my bases!!!

BTW, this is our first trip to WDW, and I'm a little overwhelmed with the planning! I was told by many people to start planning NOW and when I try to, they tell me I can't.....help!!!!!

I think you can make room only reservations now (still at the 2007 rates and then when the 2008 rates are released the price will change to reflect that).

I'm going in January and my DU agent booked me a room only at POFQ at 2007 rates with the understanding that things will change when rates come out- she will also convert it to a package for me once available

You can call Disney direct and get a room only reservation. This holds your spot at that resort. I believe that you will need to make a $200 deposit to hold your reservation. You can give this reservation number to your TA and let them take over the reservation once the 2008 rates are out. Or just wait until the rates are out and have your TA do it all.:cool1:

We booked our rooms very far inadvance. I put a room only reservation on 2 rooms and then I joined AAA and got their great discounts. The AAA TA took over our reservation and with the AAA discounts we wer able to move from POR French Quarters to WL:banana:

If you are not a AAA member it may be worth joining. I have not had to use any of their roadside services but I have more than made up the annual fee by the savings on this vacation.

15 days til WL. I am so excited that I can not stand myself.
