I tried to post on DVC discussion board and it failed to post. Didn't like my title:lmao:

Just a quick question that I hope can be answered here.

When looking at the DVC Points chart I noticed that for say weeks 16-30 Aug, there were no points listed beside it. Are there certain times where you can't use the DVC? We are looking in renting points for a DVC (in a few years) but I was just researching now. We will want to go in late August and maybe we can't use it then?

thanks for any help!!!

I'm not sure where you're looking, but I brought up both areas of point charts and find points listed for that time period. What resort are you looking at?

Yep, you're reading it wrong....it's the same point usage as the other dates in that time frame. Just more dates than there are point catagories.
Go down a bit and check out the Magic Season...lots of empty spaces there.

You do know that you cannot get free dining on a DVC points stay, correct? Only by booking a room at rack rate and paying for your tickets during the timeframe of free dining.

Renting points can be a great thing and save you money on a beautiful room. I am renting points for the first time this year from a friend who can't use her all her points.

Renting DVC points is VERY different from booking a room. You have to totally trust the DVC member to make all your reservations and requests. You are not allowed to call DVC member services since you are not a member, only the person you rent from can do that.

Maid service and such is also very different from staying in a regular room. Also how far our you can make youre reservations depends on what resort you want to stay at and if it's the DVC members home resort.

I learned many things when I first discovered renting. I don't know why you couldn't post on the DVC boards. I have no trouble. I strongly suggest you go to the DVC PLANNING boards as well as the DVC RENTING boards. On the renting boards read all the "STICKY" posts as they have valuable info on renting. Then ask away..I have found the DVC members on the boards to be VERY helpful, knowledgable and extrememly nice. They answered so many questions for me.

It's good that you are researching before you decide. I'm looking forward to going in Sept (I'm staying at BWV) though I've been to Disney many times this is a first for me.

Good luck and I can't stress enough to go to the DVC boards...there are great people there more than willing to provide you with all the information you need.

You can certainly save a lot of money on great accommodations in a “Disney Deluxe Villa Resort” (Disney Vacation Club) by renting a reservation direct from a DVC member rather than making the reservation with WDW reservations (aka CRO).

However, please be sure and educate yourself on how a DVC reservation is very different from a regular hotel reservation, and the basics of “renting points”, as it is often referred to.

Then, you should read the "sticky" posts at the top of the DVC Rent/Trade board which explain how to post on the Rent/Trade board.
