Question on Parking

We are going to Orlando area for vacation at the end of next month. Since we aren't going to a Disney park I thought a brunch at Chef Mickeys would be good to let my son see the characters. So are we able to park at the hotel free of charge to go eat there?! Also, if we wanted to go to Downtown Disney could we do the monorail to the transportation center and take the bus there (less confusion with the construction) and then ride a bus back to the hotel or will they not allow us to stay parked at the hotel that long since we aren't a guest?

Yes, you can park, free of charge, while you're eating. You aren't supposed to leave your car there if you plan to leave the resort. I would recommend paying to valet park your car in the morning. Then, take a bus to DTD right from the CR. there is no DTD bus at the TTC.
If you valet park, you can leave your car all day and do whatever you wish.

Just so you know the TTC, even though it uses the words transportation and center, it's not one. It makes it sound like its the major hub/transfer point for all of WDW transportation.

Very few buses pick up there. Since they now load and unload buses from DHS and AK at the front gates, I'm not sure what WDW transportation buses go there.

You can get a Downtown Disney bus at the Contemporary.

TTC is more for offsite busses and MK parking.

It is true you can valet and bus from the Contemporary but I would honestly just recommend you taking you car. Even with construction it will take you less time to drive and part DTD over busing back and forth. The buses to DTD from the resorts can sometimes can a nortoriously long time. And this way when you are done DTD you can go on your way.
