I am clueless to planning this vacation myself- so any input would be great! I am thinking of doing a surprise vacation for my family this coming August. I want to do a 10 or 11 day stay but was thinking of getting a 7 day park hopper pass with the extra stuff so we could do one of the water parks and Disney quest. My question is do they count as one of the days for parks? Would I need to get a 10 day pass? Is it cheaper for me not to include them and pay separately? There will be myself, my husband and 4 children (ages 9,7, 4 and 1). Thanks so much!

A 7-day base ticket with the Water Parks & More option would get you 7 days in the major parks and 7 entries into the water parks and DisneyQuest. That sounds like it would be enough for a 10-day or 11-day trip to me.

if you are getting a 7 day park ticket then I would not add park hopper.
with a 7 day BASE ticket which means you can go to one park per day I would split it up like this...
-MK: 2 days
-EPCOT: 2 days
-HS: 1 day
-AK: 1 day
-go back to whichever park you enjoyed the most.

the water park fun and more option is IN ADDITION TO the days in the four main theme parks.

so with a 7 day base ticket you'd have 7 days in the main theme parks and then 7 admissions to use for the water park fun and more attractions.
you can use the water park fun and more admissions on days that you go to the main theme parks, or on days that you are not going to the main theme parks, and you can use multiple admissions on the same day if you want. so if you want to go to blizzard beach during the day and Disneyquest at night you could use two admissions that day.

as long as you want to do 2 ore more of the water park fun and more attractions then its more cost effective to get that option.

I'd look at the sticky - everything about tickets.

Personally, for a longer trip (my longest was 15 nights) I would consider park hoppers. Thing about that is, you can ADD it later at any time! So if you personally do not think you'd want to park hop, just wait!

Same thing for water fun & more. If you definitely want to do water parks, go for it. For our long trip, I got 10 day park hoppers with water fun & more. We did each water park once (my kids really decided they're not into it too much) and they enjoyed popping into Disneyquest a few times with it too. No, those DO NOT count as your theme park visits (and you could, for example, go to the Magic Kingdom in the morning, a water park in the afternoon, and Disneyquest in the evening, and that would count as ONE theme park day plus TWO water fun & more uses).

if you are getting a 7 day park ticket then I would not add park hopper.

But, if the OP is already buying the Water Parks Fun and More option, adding the the Park Hopper only costs $25 more per ticket, plus tax.

A great bargain, even if only used twice.
