NO I'm not going to ask how much you've spent on paper... I've been lurking here long enough to know the answer would probably knock me on my behind! :rotfl2:

What is considered a good deal for 12x12? I am a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to scrapping (as pattyt can attest to - the only 2 pages I've ever done have been at her house, lol). I want to pick up some basic 12x12 paper... but how much does it usually go for? I'm thinking my best bet for now is to decide on my layout first and then buy specifically what I need for each page? :confused3

Or... I could just go shopping in pattyt's "store" :rotfl2:

I usually pay .49-.59 for card stock

and .69-.99 for printed paper
Vellum will run more from what I've seen.

I usually buy my paper when JoAnns or Michaels has a sale 4,5 or sometimes 6 pages for $1 for printed. I buy the packs of colored card stock when they are 50% off.

The most I've paid for printed paper is $.29 when it was half-off at JoAnn's. I'm too cheap to pay full price. Usually I just buy a bunch when it's on sale at 5 or 6 for $1.

I buy the card stock when it's on sale also - either the sheets for a swap & I want a specific color or the packs at ACM/Mikes/JoAnns.

The best buy I ever got for CS though was at Costco! It was something like 6 or 7 cents per sheet (12x12) in a package of 200. I got a pH tester pen and have checked what I've bought and it all has tested acid-free.

Oh - When I first started I'd gotten some paper at WalMart. I think the cost was something like 20 sheets (coordinated - some solid, some stripes/patterns) for $4. It seemed cheap at the time, but then I started checking out the sales at the "big 3". Of course every cent I save on the paper I'm spending on other goodies. :rotfl: I just can't seem to leave the store with only what I go in for. :rotfl2:

Hey Jen-
I just got home from ACMoore in Worcester and they had all regularly prices 50 cent paper on sale for 22 cents each! (oh I thought I should let you know I only bought 5 sheets of the disney stuff while there - I went for a cake decorating kit...another long story)

but you are more than welcome to my store anytime!
I just order 4 new slabs which will inflate my stock another 350 sheets or so-
why I thought I NEEDED that I have no idea!
and why I even bother saving all those dang scraps is beyond me also!

Does ACMoore have scrap stuff? I'm totally clueless! There's an ACMoore 10 minutes from where I work... and my boss is out tomorrow. Hmmm... maybe a lunch break trip?? LOL!

Oh yeah! My ACMoore actually seems to have more scrap stuff than Michaels - but it's also more spread out. Definitely check them out! Sounds like a better use of a lunch hour than even a Chinese buffet! :rotfl:

Geez Patty your as bad a I am. I bought 6 of those 12x12 boxes from Joann's and have filled them all! I always buy slabs on sale and hide them from DH. I did get a really nice one of textured cardstock at Joann's.

Jen
As you can see I buy paper for no reason but I also plan my layout if I have something specific in mind. Then I take the pics to the store or I photo copy them and just take the one sheet of paper to the store to track down that one paper I need to have. Fire14's prices are about what I pay unless I manage to get to a store when stuff is on sale.

I buy the paper in slabs too! I catch it when it is on sale (1/2 off). I have a bunch, so when I do my pages I can look through my collection first to see if I see a pattern I like (most of the time I do find the paper right here at home). I do live 30 minutes away from the nearest scrapbook store, so good thing I like to buy paper :)

Ok Jen repeat after me. Hi my name is Jen and I am a scrapaholic.....

Hi Jen!!!!

Or at least you will be after you leave ACMoore. I am so glad I don't work at Michael's anymore. I would come home without a paycheck.

I think I average .50 for single sheets. Target has some nice packs of paper with many sheets for about $9.00 I think that is a sale price. I think there is 54 sheets of matching paper in there. Look at Walmart too they have multipacks and single sheets.

LOL... well, I just sent an email to pattyt and realized that not only is there an ACMoore 10 minutes from where I work, but also a Michaels AND a Joannes! If I get into scrapping... my checkbook is in big trouble!! Good thing DH and I have seperate accounts, lol!

It's not IF you get into scrapping but when, especially if Patty and the rest if us are involved. I see several lunch breaks in your future!
As for the money, I control the checkbook.

Prices range ALL over the place. At my LSS cardstock (plain) is around 50 cents a sheet and printed ranges all OVER with the handmade, mulberry, and such being upwards of a buck a sheet.

I too tend to pick up stacks, packs, etc particularly when I'm on a themed roll as it were. Although I've been "trying" to use what I have FIRST. Uh-huh. And I have to say this is one hobby DH hasn't said too much about. Then again he really doesn't see the checkbook but does see the results. :rotfl:

Welcome to our addiction. With Patty in your corner you will become assimilated!

I very rarely buy single sheets of 12x12 paper. I buy larger packs of cardstock when they are on sale. Usually get a pack of 50 for around $7.00. My printed papers I got at JoAnn's 50% off. I bought two books with 180 sheet in each for $9.99 each, so 360 sheets for $20.00.

I'm so glad I'm in such great company w/all of you scrapaholics!! :goodvibes

I too cannot pass up a good bargain on C/S. JoAnne's seems to have the best deals around Nashville area. The closest Michael's is closed for reinvation and won't open until October so I've become very familiar w/JoAnne's and Hobby Lobby. I swear I can't stay away from the stripes!! I love SEI!! I'll buy all this paper to coordinate together and then forget what I bought what to go w/what?! ?Does that make sense? :confused3 :rotfl:

Normally C/s runs .59 but JoAnne's will have one of their great sales occasionally at 5/$1.00 and I'm a happy girl!! :Pinkbounc Seldom if ever do I buy anything that's not on sale unless I have a particular L/O in mind and can't find what I want on sale.

Someone said on one thread once that they like looking at all their C/s and the pretty colors--I REALLY understand that!! I have the coolest C/S that say Puerto Rico on it, some great cruise paper and really cool paper for my Mexico pictures....this is for me to do the cruise album for my travel agency....that I've been planning for what a year now?!?!

I am SO addicted!! :rotfl:
