My husband and I typically take vacations during easter break and during the summer. The problem is my DH doesn't know until about four months prior when his actual summer week will be. How hard will it be to reserve a one bedroom in July with only four months to plan(While we prefer BCV, we will take any resort availability.)

The summer months are actually easier to reserve than many that cost less points. If you are willing to stay at any of the DVC resorts and don't mind using the waitlist, you will be able to get something.

You might make a "best guess" before the 7 month window opens at your home resort and then adjust as needed after your DH gets his schedule. You will not have lost anything and at least you have a good shot at a home resort stay.

Easter should be booked at the 11 month window.
