I have a question about our luggage at the airport in Orlando. We are flying in Saturday morning, 4/20, and will be taking the Disney transfer to the port. Do we have to get our luggage after we land and take it to the transfer station, or does Disney handle the luggage for us and get it on the transfer? Also, on the return trip to the airport(a Disney transfer also), do we have to handle the luggage from the transfer to the airport check-in? Any feedback would be helpful. Only 15 more days!!!!!!!!!

First, make sure that ALL your checked luggage has the DISNEY luggage tags that come with all your documents. When you arrive in Orlando, representatives from DCL will be waiting for you (and many others) in the main terminal area. Check in with them. They will lead you to the bus and off you and your family go to the port. The luggage gets there later and because you tagged it properly, it arrives safe and sound to your room by 5:00 PM! You don't get your luggage off the carousel or even go to baggage pickup AT ALL. You bypass that entire step. It is so wonderful!

Going home, just as easy, just sadder! You pack the bags and leave them outside your stateroom no later than 11:00 PM the last night. You will have been given more luggage tags for them on that last day. When you disembark, you will go to the color coded area where your luggage will be waiting. MANY porters are there to help you. When you have identified your luggage, they put it altogether and you go to the line for your airlines right there at the port IF your airlines is one of the 4 that has that special arrnagement. USAIR is one of them. Can't remember the other 3. If yours is one of the 3, you and your family board the bus and your luggage follows in a van with hundreds of others' and you won't see your luggage til you arrive to your final destination! It's that easy. We had no difficulties whatsoever.

Also, on the last day, around 4:30, there is a must-see talk by the cruise director explaining all of this again in great detail. OR, you can wait til 5:30 and watch the tape of her on Channel 16 in the room! :)

Does anyone know if your flight is not until 6 P.M. can you still check in your luggage at the port?

Thank you Cheryl for your post. Your information is very helpful. I hope our luggage handling is as smooth as yours was. Just 14 more days!!!!!!!!

Lolita....I think there is only a four hour window that you can check in your bags before any flight...meaning if you get off the ship by 9:00 and your flight leaves at six pm I don't think you can check it in at the port.

We solved that problem by renting a car one way and keeping our luggage in the car when we went to Downtown Disney after disembarking from cruise.

We took the shuttle from the port to the Avis location (about a mile or so away) and picked up the car and did whatever we wanted to do for the day. Our flight was not until 7:45 pm and we dropped the car off at the airport around 5:30 and just hung around until our flight. It was much cheaper than buying the Disney transfers for our family of 5. We rented a mini-van for $60.00 for the day.
