I was wondering something. What happens we get to a TS where there are only a couple things on the menu we will actually like for the main entrees and they arent covered in the dining plan, but the things we dont like are the ones that are covered? We wont have the money to pay OOP for dinners, so what should we do if that happens?

I don't know where you are planning to eat but, I'm fairly certain there are no restrictions on what entree you can order. At least that is what the brochure says. You would have to pay oop if you added something on to your entree-like adding a lobster tail, shrimp or crab legs, but the original entree is covered by the plan.

There are only a couple of restaurants where there are any significant restrictions. If you're concerned that there are only one or two things you like, I would ask about restrictions before you're seated.

In order to avoid complaints most restaurants have dropped items from the menu rather than have to exclude them from dining guests.

Items like lobster tails became "add ons". The only significant exclusion is appetizers and desserts that are sized and priced for sharing are either excluded or multiple guests have to order that item.

When you're seated you'll be asked if you're on a dining plan. Your server will explain what's included.

So if it's on the menu not as an add on I can order it. I'm thinking like steak and shrimp which is usually a high price, as long as it doesn't say ADD shrimp for $$$$it's includeed. That's great.

Things like steak and shrimp were included at each restaurant that served them. DD had steak almost every night!

It's not quite "if it's on the menu, I can have it." It is more like if it is on the menu as an appetizer, entree, or dessert, you can have it on the plan. If it is listed as a side item or add on, it is probably not on the plan. Some restaurants allow things that are not listed in those categories--for instance, some will allow a soup or salad as an appetizer even thoug they may be listed under another heading. SOme will allow smoothies or milkshakes as beverages while other places allow only fountain drinks, coffee, iced tea, and lemonade. The server at each restaurant will explain any policies at that restaurant (mostly, we found that they were what WAS included, not what wasn't).

We never encountered anything that was listed as an entree but was not included on the plan.

So they don't give the shrimp add ons at Spoodles anymore then right? But you can pay for them?
bumping for this answer because the last I read the add ons were included at Spoodles. I will cancel my ADR if this has changed.

Even if they have been included for certain guests before, it is best not to count on them being included for us in the future. That's one of the things that is left up to each restaurant and each server, and Spoodles could change that policy (back and forth over time) without notice.

LOok at the menus on allearsnet.com for the restaurants you plan to visit. Make sure that you will enjoy a couple of the entrees/apps/desserts. If an item is listed as an app, entree, or dessert, it will be covered on the ddp. IF it's one of the few restaurants that has exceptions, then don't go there if you aren't prepared to pay OOP for something you really want. JMO.

We paid out of pocket for ONLY our liquor while on the ddp. Everything we ordered was covered, no questions, no worries.
