Question on holding points

Hello everyone...it seems I'm a little confused on holding points and I'm hoping someone can help me out...we had to change a trip last minute in October which resulted in 8 points going into our holding account. (our use year is June). In mid-November we booked our trip for April which used up the rest of our points and borrowed from our 2006 use-year. I just checked our points on the DVC member website (btw I love the updates!) and it still shows 8 points in holding and 8 points available to be banked at 50% (didn't bank them because we thought we didn't have any!). Shouldn't those points have been applied to our reservation?

No - holding points may only be used to make a reservation for a stay that is 60 days or less from the date you call. Also, holding points may not be banked.

You could try calling MS when it is 60 days or less before your April trip begins and see if there is still availability for one of the nights of your trip. If there is, you could ask MS to reallocate the points - to use the holding account points for the reservation and free up current year points. Then you could bank the 8 current year points that were returned to your account.

If there is a waitlist for all of the days of your April trip, then you can't reallocate to use the holding points.

Thanks - I understand now. I'll definitely call at 60 days to see if we can make changes!
