Ive looked up the height restrictions and have a question that I am sure can get answered. My son is 46" tall with shoes on maybe 48" (lets hope), but anyway some of the rides (attractions) have restrictions of 48" or 52".

Can he ride these rides if he is with me? And if not are these rules strickly inforced? He is going to be highly upset if he cant ride some of these rides and dad gets to.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry to say, but the rules are, that if you are under the height requirement for any ride, you cannot get on it. It doesn't matter if your child is with an adult or not. :eeyore:

Hi. I just wanted to share our experience with you from our trip a couple of weeks ago. They were very strict with the height requirements while we were there. My DD3 was just at the 40" mark. They measured her everytime we got in line for a ride that was 40". There were also times that she was also measured a second time right before we got onto the ride. We only had a problem on one occasion. The first Cast Member measured her at the beginning of the ride and said that she was tall enough and sent us into the line to ride Soarin. When we got to the top right before we were to get on the ride, a second cast member also measured her. The second cast member said that she was not tall enough and sent us back down. My DD3 ended up riding Soarin' twice on our trip. That was the only time that she was not allowed to ride any of the 40" rides. Because my DD was so close to the 40" mark, they did take time to measure her very carefully.
I just wanted you to be prepared. If it happens that your son stands 47 1/2" with shoes, they are not going to let him on the ride.

Except for the speedway the child must meet the height restriction to ride even with an adult. In my experience they are very strict with the measurements and children who don't meet the height requirement are not allowed to ride. They will ask a child to take off a hat and measure to the head. I have also seen CM's ask children to remove obviously high shoes. If a child is borderline they may be measured again at boarding.

Off hand I think the only rides your son may not make the height are RnRC and Primeval Whirl, both 48" restrictions. The speedway restriction is to drive, children under 52 can ride with an adult. Some of the water park slides are also 48" - there is a height calculator on the main page here at the dis that may be helpful.

As everyone else mentioned, they are usually very strict with the height limits. This is because of safety and legal reasons. If they let someone ride who is below the limit and that person is injured in some way, then they would end up facing a possible lawsuit.

It's unfortunate, but if your son isn't tall enough for a particular ride he is going to have to skip the ride. Hopefully he will have a sudden growth spurt and you won't have to worry about it.

I can vouch for the strict height checking- DD was 46 1/2" last October, and she wasn't allowed to ride Primeavil Whirl, even though she badly wanted to. She also wasn't tall enough for RnRC (but she didn't want to ride that one!).

The good news is that those are the only 2 rides at the 4 main parks that have a 48" height restriction. Tomorrowland Indy cars do have a 52" height requirement, but that is to drive alone. They can drive with a parent in the car at any height.

Many of the bigger water slides at BB and TL have 48" minimums- but DD didn't try any of those, so I don't know how strict they are at the waterparks.

They are very strict at the water parks! My son was very, very close on the new gusher ride and he couldn't ride. I mean close enough that she squished his hair flat(and he has a short regular boys cut) and his head just touched the underside of the bar but she said he had to be above it. So yes they are strict.

2 inches is a lot away from 48 he isn't even close, so I would prepare him now.
