Hi,

Can someone tell me the major difference between Royal Palms (?) or Sugar Loaf Concierge at the GF? What are the rooms like? We made ressies for concierge srvc at GF and they said it boud be at Sugar Loaf Lodge bldg(?) Is that right?

Any tips or photos GREATLY appreciated! THANKS A BUNCH!!!:wave2: :wave2:

There is a thread called FAQ on the Grand Floridian. If you look on this main poster page, about 4 lines down is the WDW resort FAQ information threads. If you click on this, you will find the FAQ to all the resorts, including the GF, it is the very first one listed at the top. OOps reading through some of them to find your answer, I see you already know where it is! But I did find the pics of the RPC offerings. It is on the 10th page of the FAQ page, 2nd post down by Janet2k, thanks Janet, loved the pics.
We stayed at the Sugar Loaf concierge, and I think that the only difference (besides the pleasure of staying in the main building) was the RPC offered an offering of desserts and cordials in the evening which lasts until 10 pm. The Sugar loaf usually ended its last food offering at 7 pm (at least when we were the in 10/03.) the Sugar Loaf building is just one building away, and is a little smaller in scale than the main building, of course!
If you wanted some pics of the SL concierge building, try doing a search on the boards for GF Sugar Loaf. I know I have seen pics of it too! I took lots of pics, but our scanner isnt working (film camera! Sorry!)

We've stayed in both and there are some differences. The first is the view. There are no MK views from Sugar Loaf. You have a choice of marina or overlooking the large pool. We had the marina view and if we hung out over the balcony, we could see the fantasy in the sky fireworks. The main building has incredible castle views and also overlooking the beach with Epcot in the distance. The rooms are the same, however the main building does also offer a slightly larger, deluxe room. As the previous poster mentioned, the food offerings end a little bit earlier in the lodge. The main building includes wine with their evening set up and they have a late night dessert spread which also includes coffee and liquers. In the main building, the concierge staff sits on the 3rd floor and the lounge is on the 4th floor. In the lodge, they are all located in primarily the same spot in the lobby. I found that the lodge had less seating and felt a bit more crowded. The lounge in the main building is very open, with large windows overlooking the grounds. There is also a huge balcony located on the 3rd floor. The lounge looks down into the main lobby and in the evening you can listen to the orchestra playing on the 2nd level. I've heard many describe the lodge as having a homey feeling. My personal preference is the main building because of the views and the openess.

Wow! when you were there 10/03 they took away the food at 7? when we were there 9/03, the food at SL was out until 10pm every night, and the concierges were great, they didn't rush you if you were taking a cupcake at 9:55. In RP, it was different.

I wrote an extensive report comparing the two levels at GF in my trip report it's up here if you want to take a look, hope it helps!

GeekChic's GF adventure 9/03!

have a grand trip! :) I will always pine for SL until we can go back there :)

Thanks everyone for all the info! ChicGeek, I printed out your report to read thoroughly last night!!! GREAT REPORT!:p

I'm still on a budget, so I think we might skip on RP and just stick w/ SL...I've never stayed at GF before, much less Concierge...we're so used to the WL that I wanted a change. So I'm sure it'll still be a wonderful experience!

Thanks again!!!!

We were at the GF, RPC concierge, in May and June and we were told on both occasions that all food service at Sugarloaf ends at 7pm, with no liquor or cordials. From what we experienced, this seemed to be true. Our first stay was in a 2 bedroom suite, so we had access to both concierges and stopped by Sugarloaf frequently since it was next to Conch Key, where we were staying. Promptly at 7pm, things were packed up each night so for desserts we always went over to RPC. In June, we had a turret room in the main building, but we asked where Will was, the GF concierge CM who had helped us a lot in May, and they said he was in Sugarloaf that week and we were more than welcome to go say hello to him over there. We asked what his hours were that day and they said "he'll be there till 7. That concierge closes earlier than this one."
