Question on dues and banking points

Hi all - we are thinking of buying into the new SSR and we recd the info yesterday. I never bought a time share before and had a question about the dues. I see that the dues cannot go up more than a fixed amount each year, but for those who have been members for a while, does it go up that full amount every year? Or is it generally something less than the full amount each year? Are there years where there are no increases in the dues?

With regard to banking points - is it ever possible to use a prior year's banked points, the current points and borrow from the next year's future points for one trip if you want to bring the extended family? For example, if you have 150 points per year, can you use 450 points in year 2 to travel, using year 1 banked points, the current points from year 2 and borrow from year 3? (I hope this question makes sense - I know I am confused!).

I would appreciate any help on this to get an idea of what really occurs. Thanks in advance, Kathy

Yes you can do exactly that which gives you a lot of options.

No dues don't go up by the maximum each year. It has been more like cost of living. Remember that part of your dues can be tax deductable.

Dues don't necessarily go up each year. In fact, at OKW, our dues have gone down sometimes.

im a rather a new dvc member and i cant really remark on the dues, but from what my guide has said that dues go up, but not very much each year or they stay the same and they could go down a little, it all depends on maintance done that year. but im sure their is more knowledgeable dvc members out there.

i can answer your second question, from experience, once you banked points you can not use them until they are deposit back into your account when your use year month comes up.

for example we banked our points back in feb. 2003 use year is sept. so, as of this sept. 1 2003 our 2002 points banked was deposit into my account plus the 2003 points. keep in mind my 2002 points have to be use by aug. 31, 2004.

plus as of sept. 1 2003 i can borrow 2004 point also,

now as sept. 1 2003 i have 2002 (banked points) plus my 2003 points and i can borrow my 2004 points.

once you borrow points keep in mind you cancel ressies, your 2004 points become 2003 points too, if ressies are made in 2003.
i hope that helps;)

Last week my husband and I put our depoist down for points at BWV. We are currently waiting for "package" to arrive and for our bank financing to be finalized. We are trying to figure out what, if anything, is tax deductable. Can you either PM me or explain here what part of the dues is tax deductable and why? Thank you so much!!

remember, banking of points sometimes leads to add-onitis

Thanks
