Question on Drinking Around the World

My DIL wants to do the Drinking Around the World at Epcot. How is this done? Do you have to make reservations or do you just walk in and order a drink. We are going to Epcot Dec 31, 2014. Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

No reservations needed. Just start on one side and order a drink at each country. Depending on your alcohol tolerance, I would recommend sharing a drink at a few of the countries. Another good idea is to order a snack to try with your drinks. My husband and I did this on our honeymoon. It was a lot of fun to not only try the drinks around the world, but to also try some of the food. Remember to give yourself time. I have read plenty of comments from people not being able to finish because they got sick.

They do have passports that you can get stamped at each country. My girls got these for stops at the Kidcot stations, but I have seen adults using them as well.

No reservations required, though if you're planning a leisurely day you might plan for a lunch or dinner reservation along the way--we've never actually tried to drink at all 11 countries, but that's the simple goal of drinking around the world. You can find alcoholic drinks at carts, kiosks, most (all?) quick-service restaurants and/or table-service restaurants throughout the World Showcase. In some countries you'll find different drinks at different locations--it's worth it to do some research ahead of time. I do recommend a margarita in Mexico--my favorite is the Avocado Margarita, yum!

If you google "drinking around the world" you'll find a variety of articles and blogs with recommendations for what to order. I have also heard of a "passport" you can purchase (not from Disney, but online), but we haven't tried to do anything that organized. I have no idea what the New Year's Eve crowds will do to lines in the World Showcase--it is one of those days that parks can reach capacity--so if you're able to secure a restaurant reservation or two (or more!), you may like the chance to rest for a bit and get some water & food in you while you escape the crowds.

Years ago my husband, brother and law and father decided to do Drink Around the World. All I can say is, thank goodness for the monorail. I can't remember if they started in Canada or Mexico, although the Dis recommends starting in Mexico so you can really taste the good tequila.

Keep in mind that World Showcase generally opens at 11:00am and closes at 9:00pm. I'd start as early as possible so you can pace yourself and don't feel the need to chug in order to get into each country. You want to be able to actually enjoy those drinks! It's a small world, after all.

I have never been on NYE - but a coworker was at EPCOT a number of years ago. He said the lines to just get a beer were an hour or more.
You might be lucky to accomplish the task on that day - but it's worth trying.
