Question on Disneyland Hotels and getting better than 10% AP rate

We are planning to spend a few days in Disneyland before our Cruise in late January 2011. I see the AP rate is only 10% off room at Disneyland hotels. How likely is it that Disney may offer a better AP discount and if so anyone know when we might expect that? I was hoping we might get more like 40% off the room rate. Otherwise staying at a Disneyland hotel seems far too costly given what we could get at surrounding hotels that are within walking distance.

Looking for any advice from anyone here on what my odds are on seeing the AP discounts rates drop.

I don't know when they drop, but they should in time for January. I usually go in January and they seem to be under $200. for the DLH.

There are historically pretty good AP rates for January. We are also going on the cruise in late January and are waiting for the AP rates. We are staying DVC for a few days after the cruise, but are waiting on the rates to be released for the night before. That will determine if we are staying at DL or at a port hotel.

There is always some type of offer from Costco. The current offer expires on 12/16 so I would expect something after that. Also, the special offer rate for our Halloween/Nov. trip was cheaper than AP rates so always check online as well.
