I know the rules on the discount tickets show this:
To receive this offer, you must present your Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, along with a corresponding photo ID(s) to show proof of Membership. Limit of 8 tickets per Member household.

I will be take a friend and her son with us staying in the same room in June and wondering if I could get these tickets for them as well? I am a dvc member... they are not and do not live at my address yet.

Nope. Only members of your household are eligible for the discount. But it would need to be a pretty long trip for the APs to be cost effective even with the discount.

Historically, you've been able to purchase discounted tickets for anyone and the part about showing ID to activate them has not been true.

The Annual Pass discount is only for members of your immediate household.

If you are referring to the current discount offer for DVC members, yes you can purchase these for your guests but you have to buy them in person or through MS. They must be purchased by March 31, 2016 and they can be used on your June trip.

ok so they do not have to have the same physical address as me (the dvc member) for me to purchase these tickets for them?

sounds like the fine print is the same on these as it is on the annual passes?

I read at least one post from someone who asked MS about this and they were told it's only for members and those who live in their household, just like an AP. The last ticket offer they were saying you could buy for friends. I haven't asked MS myself though.

I asked via chat about getting the new discount tickets for family that would be traveling with me in June and they said the offer was for Members only which would include the family members living in the same household only. It would not work for guests traveling with.

last offer I called twice, both times told a member had to be with guests to use tickets, while other members informed otherwise. Note that I didn't read one post of anybody being turned away using the tickets.

I suppose one could follow the Disney axiom to keep calling until you get the answer you want :rolleyes1, but don't understand why they cannot be precise as to describing the purchase process in print on the member website as to who is entitled to redeem the tickets.:confused3

Because the "rule" often doesn't match the process implemented to enforce it.

The last ticket deal also said that the tickets had to be activated by the member before they could be used, but that turned out to not be true.

it was a rhetorical question of sorts, it's beyond frustrating that they are so vague on terms for these special promotions. Will venture that even if they were able to discern if a non-member was using the tickets, didn't feel it was worth bad PR to challenge at the turnstyle.

We were asked to produce DVC card & photo ID for last APs, but haven't purchased for our now-adult children. Our youngest DS is still at home after college, not listed on our contracts. Recent call to MS = he couldn't pick up a discounted AP (during a trip this spring he has planned with friends) if we aren't traveling with him. Now wondering if I should purchase it and let the chips fall as they may.

The terms are not vague. The enforcement of the terms in inconsistent.

Agree with your 2nd comment, but not so as to the terms. IMO the $199 offer details were easily subject to interpretation.

Make Even More Magical Memories
Purchase a 4-day or higher theme park ticket—and receive an additional day for free!

Plus, enjoy the Water Park, Fun & More option for free when you add the Park Hopper option to any multi-day theme park ticket purchase.

This special offer is for Disney Vacation Club Members only, and is only available from January 4 to March 31, 2016*.

What does that really mean for DVC Members only? When you think about the children of two members are not DVC members, so are they eligible to use these tickets? Of course they are, Disney ticketing is not that greedy. But who knows who else can use the tickets.

Why not email the question to Member Satisfaction and see if they will give you a written response. Be sure to mention that you have been given conflicting information from Member Services. Good luck!

Gosh, I guess I did something wrong without realizing it. Last year I bought the $199 tickets for my sister and 3 nieces/nephews without reading the fine print. They don't live with me and they were staying in a separate room from us. They had no problems using the tickets. Before reading about the fine print on this thread I was considering buying new DVC perk tickets for 2 grandkids to use next Oct. They would probably use the waterpark option one day so it would be worth the price. They would also be staying in a separate room from us. I guess I need to rethink this plan!

What does the fine print actually say? Only AP's are limited to household members.

Okay. This thread has me totally confused. If I buy the tickets from MS for grandkids, I can link them so I can make Fast Pass reservations, right? But I still have to go to Guest Relations at the park when we get there in October or else the tickets won't work? Sorry to be so obtuse. I don't remember doing that for the $199 tickets last year (of course, I may have forgotten but I don't think so).

From what I read it just says a member has to present their member card and a valid ID when they pick them up. No where does it say that these tickets are exclusively for DVC members. Still in the dark on this one.

That's what it says. And that's what it said for the $199 tickets last year. It's highly unlikely that a DVC member will actually have to activate these tickets. But I guess we won't know until someone tries.
