There is a chance on my upcoming trip that I will be on the DXDP. During my trip my brother will be coming to visit, and I was thinking of doing a lunch somewhere by having the two of us on the plan order a TS meal (2 apps, entrees and desserts) and sharing it among the four of us. I know that you can share meals if the entire party is on the DDP, I also know that some places (specifically Via Napoli) frown on sharing between mixed plans/no plans, but that presumably means others allow it? I am specifically wondering if it would be allowed at Rainforest Cafe, though I would be happy to know of anyone's success doing it anywhere. Thanks!

You are not allowed to share Dining Plan credits with people not on the Dining Plan anywhere. It is a huge no-no. So you need to be prepared to pay out of pocket if you are treating your brother to lunch.

OP isn't sharing credits, just food. It sounds like two people are on the plan, so they would get 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts and feed 4 people with just that.

I have no idea if this is allowed, but I'm not sure it will be enough food. It sounds like a lot, but it would depend on what you order as to whether it is enough.

It is not allowed. They would be sharing credits with those not on the plan and that is not allowed.

If you can do the DxDP, then I'm sure you can scrounge up enough money to pay for your brother's entree at Rainforest Cafe. Sharing of credits, which you would be doing by ordering 3 courses of food for another adult to consume at the table who isn't on the DDP, isn't allowed.

I also think you've misunderstood something: Via Niapoli won't let two people BOTH on the dining plan share an entree- if my husband and I are both on the DxDP, they still won't let us share an entree and we must both order our own. Hopefully, that will help clarify things for you.

Have a great trip!!

What if two people are on the dining plan, but want to share a meal? My partner and I are not big eaters, and were wanting to share a few meals this upcoming trip. Which means we would use one of our credits in a meal and share it?

I assume you and your partner are on the same package reservation so you would be able to use one credit to share at the TS restaurants where you order from a menu. You would not be able to share and both will be charged a credit at buffets, all you care to eat family style meals, fixed price meals (dinner shows, CRT, Akershus), Fantasmic! Dining Package, Candlelight Processional Dining Package, and the platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe. Via Napoli is very strict with dining credits and will not allow sharing (using 1 credit to feed 2 people) even when both are on the same resort package. VN will only allow the individual sized pizza if you want to order pizza, although there was a recent report that someone was able to use 2 credits for the larger sized pizza. Not sure if this is new for this year or just an exception.

Your scenario is very different from the OP who wants to use 2 dining credits to feed 4 people (2 of whom are not on the dining plan). This is sharing with someone not on the dining plan and clearly stated in the dining plan as not being permitted.

I would look at this as someone ordering a meal from the menu and sharing food. At no time are they sharing the Dining Plan, for example they are not giving the plan to someone else to order someone a meal not on the plan.

It would need to specifically say that sharing of "food" is not permitted.

I certainly can afford to treat him to lunch, I never said I was asking this question to be cheap, but rather because I'm also having a large breakfast and dinner this day and am looking for a way to burn an extra credit I have

It would absolutely be enough. If I do as suggested above I will be throwing out two entrees (literally as we will be in the park another 8 hours after lunch and am not toting around 4 half burgers, and apparently it is against the rules for me to try to eat 1 and give the other away, so trash can) You have the measure of what I would be trying exactly though, I would only be expending credits for two people, not three or four.

I can see the logical extrapolation of "You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are
not on your Disney Deluxe Dining Plan" to "You may not redeem a meal for yourself and share with a Guest who is not on the plan," however as I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that we could share the appetizers, or the desserts, so long as they order entrees, it is not clearly stated that way, which is why I asked. Since he is staying in a completely seperate room/reservation from me for just one night, if I get him a 1 credit dining plan (which I would redeem at one of the other 4 meals we are having together) would I then be allowed to do this, since apparently sharing meals when both parties have a plan is okay?

According to the Disney Dining Plan's brochure, the rule states, "You may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on your Disney Dining Plan." http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/me...alog/WaltDisneyWorld/en_us/PDF/2014Dining.pdf

I don't think this could be any clearer, but it looks like you're trying to argue with anyone that isn't telling you something that you want to read/hear. Pretend to interpret it (or justify) as you wish, but according to this, you can't get a meal for your brother with your dining credits- regardless of your rationale.

Disney's definition of a Meal is included in the DxDDP brochure:

Each meal from a Table-Service location
includes one (1) single serving:
FOR BREAKFAST
Entrée
Non-alcoholic beverage

FOR LUNCH/DINNER
Appetizer
Entrée
Dessert
Non-alcoholic beverage

Disney's definition of a "meal" includes the appetizer and dessert. What you decide to do is up to you, but the disboard's rules state it will adhere to Disney's policies and not discuss ways around them.

It says you cannot redeem, it doesn't say you cannot share your food from your plan with another guest. She isn't redeeming her credits for her brother. She is redeeming them for her and sharing the food with her brother. She isn't giving them to him for him to try and use somewhere. If I buy a bag of pretzels with my snack credit can I give them away to my friends who came with us who aren't on the plan b/c now I am too full to eat them or will WDW SWAT come out and escort us out of the park. OP, I think you are fine sharing food you used with your credits. It isn't like you are giving them to him to go use on his own. You bought and paid for that food and if you want to give him half of your burger that is your prerogative.

Use of a dxdp credit is intended to be consumed by the holder of the credit, not shared with non dining plan guests.
