I know they won't start the Christmas festivities until Thanksgiving but they will have the decorations up before then. We are leaving WDW on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. Any chance they actually turn the lights on before Thanksgiving? Are the trees all decorated and just left unlit? How about the resorts?

They normally start decorating the beginning of November but they don't turn everything on until Thanksgiving.

I know there was a schedule on the wdwinfo part of the site, but can't find it now and don't know how to look for it. Even though decorations are added throughout the month of Nov, as Robert Walker said above, I do think none are lighted till Friday after Thanksgiving.

Dan - I think this is what you are thinking of:

2003 Holiday Decorating Schedule for WDW

I was at Disney World last year and left a week before Thanksgiving. Everything was decorated and the lights were on. There may be some things that aren't lit but I didn't see any. I toured the resorts on Sunday before I left and most were already decorated. I was staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it was magical. Went to bed one night and everything was normal. Woke up in the morning and the whole lodge was decorated. They do it all during the night.

go to the dis meet board. See post from ray sharpton about december meets. he has the entire decorating schedule listed along with a lot of other December information.

pennylynn - You have given me great hope that the lights will be turned on. I am the only one in the group that has ever seen the lights on at Christmas and I would love to share it with the whole gang that is going with us. It might be my mom and dad's last of so many trips there and I know they would love to see it lit. Thanks for the post.
