question on cancelling a ressie made with banked points..

Please help me clarify this. Say I banked some 2006 year points and make a ressie for 2007 year.

The DVC site says:

"Cancelling a reservation 31 or more days prior to check-in:
All Vacation Points used to make the reservation will be restored to your account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls."

So my banked 2006 points become 2007 points? Can they be banked into 2008 if deadlines are not passed?- I'm not manipulating but there is a slight chance this scenario could come up.

No, your banked 2006 UY points will expire at the end of your 2007 UY.

They are returned to your 2007 UY because that's where they came from. However, all DVC points have a specific status. There are five different categories for status, as follows:

Regular
Banked
Borrowed
Reservation
Holding

Only regular points may be banked (or borrowed).

Your points will be returned to your 2007 UY, but will have the status of 'banked', and therefore cannot be banked again, and will expire at the end of your 2007 UY if not used.
