I just called 11 mos to the day! For my FIRST DVC vacation. The CM told me that there are now 3 views at BWV, standard, preferred and BW. I didn't want BW b/c of the noise, but when I checked the points calendar, I see nothing about 3 rates, just 2 through 2005. Does anyone know why this is?

The point costs for BW View and Preferred View are the same.

The BW view used to just be part of the Preferred class, but it seems many folks were disappointed with requesting the BW View and not getting it. So, they made the BW view a separate class of room rather than just a request. Still same points though.

The preferred views are the same points - doesn't matter if it is a preferred pool/garden view or a preferred - Boardwalk view.

DVC recently decided to make the preferred BW view its own category so that we would know at booking if we were getting a BW view. A BW view was the most frequently requested view and apparently, there were many disappointed guests at check in. (Even a few "scenes", LOL). With the guaranteed category, check in is now a lot easier for the Front Desk personnel - either the guest has a BW view reserved or a pool/garden view reserved. You get what's been reserved. No need to argue or "politely insist" at check in.

Best wishes -

The points for BW view and the preferred view are the same. So many people were requesting BW view and then getting there and being disappointed that when they didn't get it that they decided to add it as a guaranteed category.

I think it's a great idea because it gives BWV owners the 11 month window to book BW view rooms. Before BW view was just considered another preferred view room.

This Thanksgiving I booked a BW view for the first time. I always tried to book standard view before but now that I know I can be guaranteed a BW view, I figured I would try it.

The addition of boardwalk view came at the same time as they introduced "room ready" last year (room ready is first come, first served). They knew they would have a mess on their hands if everyone showed up at 8:00am to get that boardwalk view. As a Boardwalk owner, I think this is much more fair.
