Hi, My wife and I are seriously considering Buying into DVC as we are at a good age to travel with kids and occasionally bring extended family. My questions is this...since we are from the Midwest we will mostly travel in our coldest months, Oct-March and we have narrowed our focus to boardwalk, polynesian and boulder ridge and i want to make sure that I will be able to book the 5 person rooms in the 11 month windows...can someone who knows tell me if there is one I will have a problem booking including in the NOV-DEC window. I imagine we will buy 150-175 points wherever we go. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Also if anyone is a member at one of these, why do you like it the best?

Today, January 1, is the day to book December 1-7 on line. Booking a studio at Bolder Ridge and standard view studio at BWV, is blocked out now at 9 PM. Pool view at BWV IS AVAILABLE now.

It is harder to book a studio for the first week in December then ever before!

I own at both of those, and they have been our go to resorts for December! However, we can book 1 bedrooms if needed.

The first week of December can be a problem for BWV standard view and BWV boardwalk view but pool/garden view should be fine. As was mentioned the BRV studio also was booked up early today. PVB should be fine. And during most weeks of Nov-Dec only the BWV standard view and boardwalk view might be difficult but you wouldn't be shut out from the resort or either of the other two locations. I like to remind that if buying with plans to go early December to not buy just to book either the lowest point rooms or the small room categories. Better to have cushion to have options.

I noticed today that the first few nights standard AKV studios first week of December were gone at 6 am pst. Granted they were open for booking an hour before I checked but that’s insane. There’s tons of standard studios at AKV. December is crazy scarce studio wise.

Jambo House, Kidani Village or both?

Jambo House, Kidani Village or both?

I only checked Jambo. It’s a morning game I play over coffee. Wasn’t looking in earnest. I’ve yet to check and actually see value studio open. I suspect if I got in the game and started waking up at insane time, West coast, I’d see an occasional opening with values. I was surprised this am though that no standard studios were available at 11 months out. They usually are.

The Jambo standards are going to people who were gunning for Value and missed. Kidani is yet abundant.

You don't say how long you plan on staying. Have you run points calculations to know how many points you need? I would just say if you choose BWV, don't base it on standard studios. Points req for BWV Preferred and BRV are about the same. If you go with BWV, consider it a bonus if you get standard and you have extra points to play with. BWV/BRV expire much earlier but Poly will require a lot more points and the points cost more.

You say you want the 5 person rooms....are you are a family of 5? Most will say that the studios will not hold 5 comfortably when the kids are "big". If so, I guess I'd give the edge to BWV because you may want a 1bd in the future and should be able to get standard view (saving points- which you'll need to do if you bought based on studio stays). From what I understand, the 1bd don't officially sleep 5 but it is allowed. You have to provide your own bedding, a blow up mattress, whatever.

BR will hold 5 in the studio, with the drop down bed and permit 5 in a 1BR, but you need to provide bedding etc for the 5th person. It's CCV that will not allow 5 in either a studio or 1 BR
