Can you add the dining plan to either? When I was briefly talking to a gentleman by the DVC desk he kept mentioning TIW which we aren't interested in because DH really prefers the DxDp.

DVC can always get the dining plan. It has to be PIF when added.

Someone with an AP can call and book a "ticketless package."

Note that in both cases, they will pay full price for the DDP and won't benefit from any promotions that include the DDP.

Thank you! So only cost a DVC member would pay is for the dining plan + airfare (if flying) + park tickets, correct? The DVC cost is just for the resort and amenities @ resort.

Correct. DVC is basically prepaying for a nice hotel room for many years. If you want daily housekeeping you would have to pay extra for that.

There's that word "only"!

Buying DVC means a large outlay of cash (or a mortgage) for the purchase. Then there are annual maintenance fees that are based on your home resort and the number of points you own. Last year, I paid just under $2K just for the fees.

Yes I saw that, I didnt mean to minimalize the cost -- was just trying to break it down.

That stuff is implied within "The DVC cost is just for the resort and amenities @ resort."

Doesn't need to be included in a response about what you pay for any given visit.
