Hi All ~

We are going on our first cruise in late February. It's the 3-night cruise on the Dream so it is a closed loop cruise which doesn't require a passport but I know it's a good idea to have one in case I'd need to fly home from one of the ports. My DH & DD already have passports and I know I should have applied for one already. :headache:

I was gathering my paperwork for the passport application and discovered that my birth certificate is the original one issued; the data is hand written and there is no seal (I feel so old!). Since I need a certified copy of my birth certificate for the passport application or as cruise ID I ordered one today.

We can do our online check in next month. I assume it would be OK to indicate that I'll be using a certified birth certificate + photo id (drivers license) as my cruise ID since I won't have a passport number or expiration date to enter (I don't want to wait to do online check in until I get my passport). Then even though I will have a passport by the time we sail I'd still use the IDs indicated during online check in and just have the passport with me for emergencies.

Also, I assume it is OK if my certified birth certificate has my birth/maiden name and my photo ID has my married name?

Anything else I need to know about ID requirements?

TIA!
Debbie

Please carry your certified marriage certificate with you to bridge that name change.

Some day Dh might change his last tonmine. He’d have to show documentation of that, if he boarded with BC and ID. I bet you’d want him to. And I want married women who make the choice to change their names upon marriage to do the same. So bring it. Show it. Make them see that they need hat documentation.

Just update your info online. Easy. Or just show them the passport.

You’ll need that marriage certificate for the passport. Better make sure you have that.

How did you get so far without the proper BC? How did you get a marriage license without it??!

I was wondering the same thing! I got married almost 30 years ago and don't remember what paperwork we submitted. But it had to have been my original BC.
