Has Disneyland ever brought an attraction back after they had closed it? Not talking refurbs. I was thinking about how many people long for the peoplemover or certain show to come back as was wondering does it ever happen?

I'm not sure. But I guess they 'sort of' brought back the Flying Saucers when they made Luigi's Flying Tires...ha!

I wish they could bring back the Skyway buckets. I loved those. But I don't think those, people movers, or any other yesterland attractions will be brought back.

In the late 1970s, they changed the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough from the original 1957 artwork to dolls similar to the Main Street window displays. In October 2001, they closed the walkthrough altogether. Then in 2008, they reopened the walkthrough in the style of the original artwork, including restoring some effects that had not been seen since the late 1950s.

As Butterfly123 said, they did bring back Captain EO. As far as I can tell, it was pretty much the same as the original (no major tweaks, additions, modifications, etc.).

Other than that, the closest thing I can think of is the Tiki Birds at the Magic Kingdom (WDW). There was an "Under New Management" version which featured Iago and Zazu. It was not universally thought of an improvement to the original show. There was a fire and some of the audio-animatronics were damaged, so when they repaired the show, they removed Iago and Zazu and returned the attraction to a version more similar to the original (it was not identical, there were major changes, but still much closer to the original).

And no one ever darkened those doors again. OK, well we did once, and my kids HATED the new old version. It was boring and not funny. I agree.

I'm glad that Disney brought the Subs back. That was an attraction no one ever thought would return. I still remember the 50s music and stuff they played in those subs back in the late 80s.

I'm NOT glad that Captain Eo is back. The only reason it did is because it was cheap, and Disney could capitalize on MJ's death.

I would loved to see the People Mover come back. Tomorrowland desperately needs this ride to come back.

I'm not sure I would say "no one" - it's sounds like you family did not like the new/current version, but other folks do prefer it over the one with Iago and Zazu.

Me too! Alas without some major repairs to much of the track and buildings that house/support the track, it's unlikely that the Peoplemover will return.

Maybe instead of doing something dumb with money like WDW did with MyMagic, they could actually invest in attractions. I can't imagine retro-fitting the rails and creating new carriages would cost much more than $100mil. Chump change for Disney. And fans would flock to come see the attraction open again. Plus, it chews up a big portion of people and keeps them out of the lines of other rides. Maybe PeopleMover needs it's own thread...

:rotfl: Well...there was this one...you started it and I (along with others) answered it...we could revive it!

I thought Peoplemover was lame when I was young. There was one time when I was a young adult when I had a fun time on it...but anyway, now that I'm old, I think it would be nice to have back. However, where I'd really like to see something like that would be in DCA. There isn't much transportation there to get you from one place to another, aside from the trolley. It would be nice to have something that circled the park like the trains and monorail in DL. Actually, instead of Peoplemovers I wish they'd just expand the monorail to cover both parks and all 3 hotels. I know, I know, not gonna happen, but it's as nice a dream as bringing back PM.

I'm pretty sure people mover would require a massive overhaul to meet current codes. The rocket rods really beat up the track before they were eventually shut down.

Don't think they we will be seeing it back anytime soon unfortunately :(

This is the one that came to my mind as well!:thumbsup2(I refuse to even think about Captain EO---YUCKO;))!!!

While I never saw the old version I think they did a great job with the way it looks now. I always visit the walk through each time we visit.
