Hi Folks,

7 more sleeps...Can't Wait.

OK, I am at that stage where you start to freak out about being organized. I'm a night owl and I thought I was being all clever staying at a Disney Property because of the Extra Magic Hours, but, now I realize that everyone and their Pluto will be in the parks on those evenings.

Is this true? If I plan on seeing Fantasmic or the Jingle Jungle Parade etc should I plan to do these things on the days that there isn't extra hours in that park?

Is it even worth going into the parks when there is late openings? Or is it so crowded that it is just crazy?

Any help will be much appreciated

Disney likes to advertise these hours as having the park to yourself. Think about the 1000's of rooms Disney has on property. Guess which park they are all going to ... the extra magic hours park. Imho, I would pick another night to do those activities,

I guess it would also depend on the time of year you are going. We were there in May and did the evening EMH at MGM, MK, and Epcot. It was great. Yeah there were people there, but we had no waits on most of the rides! We plan on doing them again in April. I don't think it will be too bad the time you are going in Dec. Now if it was Xmas week then I would say skip it!

I read so many posts about staying away from extra hour parks because of the people. Our experiences with EMH are that no matter what others say, extra time in any park offering EMH's is a bonus for our resort stay. It's why I stay on property, used to pay 10 bucks for special E-night and staying in the MK till mid-night or 1 am is sheer fun. Crowds to us are no different then during the day or EMH's. You go, its free, if it way too crowded, we hop to another park but that can't work because the others already closed but doable during EMH, mornings. Even if we just stroll around the EMH park, its better than sitting in your room, we do not like MGM or AK and never attend their night hours but always, no matter what others say, do EPCOT's and MK evening hour, just too much fun to not do.

go for it and enjoy it! Sure there will be lots of people but it is there for you to use. Have a great time!

We tried the late night hours in the MK back in March (when it's moderately busy) and were walking on rides. It was the best thing we could ever have done and I'd do it again in a heart beat. We have two boys who were only 7 & 5, but they were troopers and stayed up until midnight that night. We had a *blast*!

If you are going soon (before it gets really busy at Christmas), then I think it's still listed as a slower time in the parks and I'd think it wouldn't be horribly packed. Fingers Crossed for you! :wizard:

Hi,
We love EMHs, and on one visit we rode test track 4 times (just before midnight) without getting off as there was no queue - lol!

EMHs in the morning for water parks is great too as you get to do the big rides with hardly any queue.

Another tip is to do fantasmic or other evening shows (such as wishes) on a night which is not EMH and then use the EMH in that land for doing rides in while everyone else is watching the fireworks / show. We did this and caught some great moments of the wishes fireworks from the top of the run-away mine train in Magic Kingdom having done it several times in a row with a five min queue (forgotten it's proper name - sorry). Do the tower of terror / rock and roller coaster while everyone is watching fantasmic - cause it will be an enormous queue when it finishes.

Hope this helps, Have a wonderful first trip
Love and Mickey Ears
