Question for you Poly lovers

Any of them ! I am hoping to stay there next May if any AP rates and hoping for 1st floor pool view room of volcano pool. What should I request ? I love the Poly pool - so warm and the slide is much better than the POR and POFQ slides.

Which building do your prefer and why?

TIA
Fiji. The building facing GF and the beach... I feel more selcuded this way, like I am actually on an island. I don't care to be facing another bldg. I like this bldg because it is very close to GHC

Aotearoa (sp?) facing the monorail. If I can't get Fiji, I'm fine with this bldg. Again, no bldg in front of me. You can hardly see the parking lot. Very lush... it's very tropical and it's very disney when you see the monorail passing your room! I like this bldg because it is also very close to GHC.

I got to stay at the Polynesian when the resort I was supposed to stay at closed for renovations. I stayed in the Tokelau building in room #1913. This is considered a "garden" view room, but could see the Grand Floridian and the lagoon from the room. It was also a quick walk to the quiet pool, as well as to the main building & monorail. It was a little further of a walk to the water launch & the TTC, but not bad.

Fiji, and we had the Marina View (room 2315 to be exact). We never had a problem with noise from the Marina, and I liked to wake up with the sounds of the water "bobbing" the boats, and see the sun illuminating the colorful sails. Then again, it might have been because that was our Honeymoon room. :love2:

I just might have to look into theis Fiji a little more--

anyone have Tikiman's website handy??

TIA!! :cool1:

Another vote for Fiji! ;) Thought I liked Tokelau best until we stayed in Fiji. Nice location..nice views..nice short walk to the GCH! Yes..I'm lazy after all that walking around the parks! :rotfl:

Pau,

I love Gerard Butler, too ( and Ewan McGregor ). Must be something with those Scottish accents!

Samoa, volano pool view. I like its closeness to the GCH, and great location close to the volcano and quiet pools and mug and snacks are just a hop over the little bridge and the beach and wishes are just down the sidewalk. I have also stayed in niuie before it turned into a smoking bldg. and we have stayed in aeorotora with a monorail view. We dont really spend alot of time in the room so we arent interested in the view too much, just always book a garden view room, the cheapest and just for the location, rarotonga would be my 2nd choice because its close to the bus stop too. In April we had samoa, but it was 3rd floor with a view of the tree tops and hawaii conceirge 3rd floor rooms. The balcony was nice but it was ruined by our rude smoking neighbors and too much bird poop.

I guess I'd have to take Hawaii and I think Tonga is the suites building. :earsboy: If you can request any room, they may as well give you the most! ;)

Actually, I will be staying there for my first time in January. I'll have to let ya know after that!!

we just got back from Poly, stayed in Tokelau, room 3915. Its the last one on the TTC side of the building, great view of the castle and the lagoon. The room was very big, very clean and everything seemed new and fresh (and that's before the remodel). Our kids are 10,10 and 12 so we didn't have strollers. The 3rd floor was very quiet, the outside stairs were right outside our room, or we could walk halfway down the hall to the elevator (in the center of the building). The walk to TTC was easy, almost equal to the walk to GCH so going to Epcot was easier going to TTC and from our room we could see the launch so if it was on the way we just walked down to the dock to get to MK.

Sounds like a great room with a great view! May I ask, did you speficially request this room or just get lucky?

We'll only be visiting MK & Epcot this trip so that sounds like a good location for catch the monorail.

Also, did you happen to be anywhere near Fiji to notice how the renovations are coming along? It might be nice to have a newly decorated room.

Planning to be at the Poly for the first time in a few weeks! & wishing for a wonderful room location! :wizard:

Thanks!

I read alot on these boards and called in my room request about 40 days ahead. I didn't specifically request that room, I really wanted a balcony and knew with the five of us we could use the extra room (I think Tokeleau, Niue and Tahiti?? are about 10%bigger than the others) so I asked for 3rd floor Tokeleau or Tahiti, but specifically wanted non smoking. I think half of Tahiti is smoking and many are Lagoon view and we were only paying for garden view.
Sorry, I didn't really see into any of the construction areas. I think there were a couple of buildings closed off, but I could be wrong. They board it off so you can't easily see through. Like I said though, if I hadn't known that they were about to remodel I would have assumed our room had just been redone. (except the tv's are pretty small, but that was fine by me!)

What category is Marina view? I assume it is a water view? (Price wise)

Actually a marina view is not a catagory at the Polynesian. The views that look at the marina are garden view catagory.

Aloha

Steve

My favorites are Samoa 3rd floor facing the volcano pool and Raratonga 3rd floor facing the monorail. Both are close to the pool and the GCH.
