Is the one I linked to the one you got for Christmas?

My question is will she use it? It's an expensive bag accessory if she will not use it. Has she asked for one? While it is fun playing a course with GPS in the carts, it's almost like cheating :lmao:. The one you picked has good reviews though.

edit-how good of a golfer is she. If she isn't under a 20 handicap-it isn't going to really help her any.

Yes, she would use it & she is interested in one. My DH has one that she really likes & she uses his. In fact, he left his with her in Florida from October until we just came home 2 days ago & she used it then.

She really likes the one he has but mentioned getting one without the yearly fee.

The gift would be for her birthday & Mother's Day from my 3 siblings & myself.

I just want to make sure it's a nice enough one to get her. DH said it looked good & my sister's DH who is an avid golfer said it looked like a nice one, so I just want to get other opinions also.

I have the Callaway uPro & love it. You have the option to pay a fee to download a course or they offer a free version with less details. The free version is great for courses you are familar with.

This is an area where most people will vehemently defend the one they use.

I have always used SkyCaddie (which has a yearly fee), and I love it (a lot of people hate them). I also know a lot of people who use the Callaway uPro and love that, too.

That's what my DH has and he's golfed all over with it. Sometimes he pays for the courses if he's going away to golf and other times, he downloads the free course. He's requested courses that they didn't have and they've made them available when enough requests are made.

My DH has the SkyCaddie. The only drawback for my mom was the fee. I hate to give a gift that is going to cost her money each year. I mean, she'd pay it, but I just hate doing that.

I don't know how much the fee is, but you could always pay it for her as an annual gift.

I use an iPhone app myself, but a friend just got a Callaway uPro for Christmas and loves it. Amazing how light those things are. They weigh next to nothing. The base data is just yardages without overhead pictures, but the full version has overhead, flybys, etc. He seems quite happy with it, and the yardages were all within a yard or so of what my iPhone app said and what we walked off from sprinkler heads, so it seems accurate (enough for a hacker like most of us). :)

Which app do you use-I wonder if they have it for Droid too :thumbsup2
