Can you clarify some things for me? I wanna see if I've got this right.

So I've already made room only ressies for Jan '02 using my DC discount. I'm assuming what I do is keep an eye out for new AP discounts via Mousesavers.com or something like that and when I see them (and if it's worth it), call and make new ressies with the AP discount (even though I don't have a card yet). Then I cancel my old ressies and go to my local disney store and buy the AP (getting 5% off with my DC card) so that I have it to show at the resort at check in?

Do I understand this correctly?

Thanks guys. :)

Some Disney Stores can order AP's for you, others can't. Making it nessary to buy them somewhere else.

I called CRO and ordered mine from WDW. The vouchers were then mailed to me. But weren't activated till they were exchanged at MK the 1st day of our trip.

You've got it right! (But as tink2dw said, there is more than one way to get that AP before you arrive). Good luck - hope you get a good AP discount!

I have both AP and DC. I set up reservations under the AP but when I checked in they changed it to DC. I was told then that the DC discounts is always equal to or greater than the AP. AP discounts for 2002 just came out. I don't have them in front of me but I can give them to you tomorrow if interested.

It's been my expereience that AP discounts (when available) are ALWAYS better than Disney Club discounts. As far as I know, there haven't been any AP discounts released for 2002 yet. The 2002 Disney Club discounts, however, did just get released. They range from 10% to 20%, depending on the resort and season. AP discounts can be as high as 45%, but are only offered when rooms don't fill to Disney expectations.

I agree that the AP discount rates are far, far better than DC discounts. For example, we have ressies in December for a 1-bedroom at BWV. The rack rate is $416 with tax. DC would give me 20% off. That would be around $333 a night with tax. DU got me the AP rate of only $243.09 per night with tax. For our five nights we saved $450 more with the AP discount than the DC discount, and $865 off of rack rate. Our APs have more than paid for themselves this year!

Also, if I understand correctly, you don't have to actually have the AP at check in, you do need the voucher. Other threads have said they will let you check in sometimes without the AP voucher, but you have to show the AP at check out or pay rack rate when you check out. Someone else might be able to shed some light on this though. December will be our first time getting AP's and we have a post card rate that was better than the AP rate when I made the ressie.

How do you get the 45% off? Do you ask when you register or keep calling every week or what? That sounds good to me and iI have both but have only gotten the 'advertised' discount.

AP discount amounts vary - they are not always 45%. Many times they are less and sometimes they are not available at all. When you call CRO, just ask if there are any AP discounts available for the dates and resort(s) you are interested in. Until this year, AP discounts were not offered during the months of October, November of December.

I'd call CRO and check every couple of weeks or better yet, just keep an eye on this board and the resort board. Someone always lets us know when they find out AP discounts are available. Call quickly - AP rates are limited and usually go very fast.

Just got back 10/03. We stopped at Downtown Disney on our way to our resort to purchase my Annual Pass(with DC discount of course.) You get the actual activated pass...not a voucher. As luck would have it, the resort didn't even ask to see any proof of AP.

mrs.pixiedust,

When you get the activated pass at Downtown Disney, does the 365 start on that day or the next full day? We plan on arriving 12/23 and start the parks on 12/24. We plan another trip next December the week before Christmas. One day will make the difference between Christmas Eves in the parks two consecutive years or just one. We haven't fully decided to renew next December since it hits right at Christmas.
