Hi there. I had a question for you. I saw on your website the homemade t-shirts you made. They look great!!!:bounce: :earseek:
I was thinking about making my own personal t-shirts for our upcoming cruise in December. Is it ok to make your own without getting into trouble, was thinking about using the DCL logo and personalizing it to our date. Was also thinking about putting a pic of the ship on it too.
What should I do????

Thanks,
Lisa:earsgirl:

Lisa, We did our own T-shirts also. I was going to post them but was unable too!!!! I used this site for clipart:
http://www.mickeysplace.hpg.ig.com.br/mickey.htm
They have alot of different disney stuff. We copied the clipart to a Microsoft PictureIt program, added our family name and cruise date. Put a sun behind Mickey(we used the mickey seen in my signature). We printed them out on iron on transfers and ironed them on too, white T-shirts. They turned out great, and we look forward to wearing them.

If you are looking for specific clipart do a generalized search on yahoo or google. I hope I helped a little. Goodluck and have fun

As long as they are for personal use and you don't try and sell them, you should have no touble. I make t-shirts for our family trips all the time, and I always get nice compliments about them from Disney CM's.

Thanks for the quick responses!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
I appreciate all your help.

Thanks again,

Hey Andy, ole friend, ole pal, old buddy!

How do you get the iron on transfers for the shirts? Remember I'm the computer jerk in my family - so talk to me as if you were talking to a child!

Rae,

You should feel so honored, this is my 1,000th post.

I use iron-on transfers that are called "invent-it" they can be bought at Best Buy, or KMart, or you can do what I do, and buy them from their website at www.invent-it.com

You simply put the transfers in the printer like you would a regular piece of paper. Just make sure when printing that you have your printer set for transfers. If you aren't sure, print a sample and make sure it prints backwards, that means when you iron it on the shirt it will look correctly. It takes about 2 and 1/2 minutes to iron on the transfer to the shirt.

I have been doing t-shirts, sweatshirts, mouse pads, tote bags, and a few other different items for the past three years. It has kind of turned into a hobby for me. It's a lot of fun. At least I think so.

If you have any other questions about iron-ons, feel free to ask.

Angelina is on our desktop computer(cable modem), and I am on my V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W(dial-up) laptop. It's an older model I bought off of e-bay a few months ago, but it does the trick. Angelina has a computer in her room, but it doesn't have internet service.

Good Luck!!!

Rae, I just went to invent-it.com myself because I was running low on transfers, they have a sale going on, on their iron-on transfers, they were 13.99 now 10.49, one note I forgot to mention earlier, there are two types of iron-ons, one for dark colored clothes(these cost more) and one for lighter colored clothes. Personally, I've never used the iron-ons for the dark colored clothes. I've had good success with light pastel colored or white t-shirts.

Andy - you should teach! I mean it, very good information and directions simple enough that I now understand and know how to do this stuff.

Okay, going to give it the old college try here after I order this transfer paper -

Don't go too far away, ole buddy, ole pal - I may need more guidance!

I'm only a mouse click away!!!

VicNMickey, is the picture-it software as easy to follow as Verandah Man's instructions on transfers?:D I went to the clip art link you supplied and saw animated gifs. What the heck is a gif? (That's how computer illiterate I am!) How do you get that gif;) on my signature here on the board? And since we're all learning here, what is an (I know I'll get this wrong) avatar?

Always willing to stretch my wings! Thanks!

An avatar is the picture you picked to accompany your screen name. In your case the castle is your avatar.

GIF is the format in which a picture has been saved. Other than that I too am computer illiterate!

Last night I picked up Avery #8938 ink jet T-shirt transfers...they were $20.99 for 18 8x11 transfer pages. I bought them at Staples. I think they were on the expensive side, buy my son needed them last minute for a project so I just picked up what I could find quickly. I have used Avery label products extensively in the past and found them to be very good quality. This was our first venture in the transfer dept.

Well, I am a proud mother of an 18 year old teen who created the image in the computer and followed all the steps on the package and came out with a very nice t-shirt. Didn't even ask my help...could it really be that he is doesn't need me anymore!!!!

So, if my son who has never lifted an iron before can do this, I am sure anyone else out there can too.

I do want to check out the site Andy mentioned....my son liked the shirt so much he is thinking of other things to transfer!!!

I love Microsoft picture it because its really easy to use. It allows you to flip the picture when you get ready to print it. So when you put them on the transfers it will look backwards until you iron them on to the t-shirts. As far as the gif, thats the format the clipart is in. To put a clipart in your signature go to tech support board, they have theard that is very helpful for this. Its really easy, to follow directions. I hope this helps, I am not a very good teacher, I am a learn as you go type of person;) I have learned a tremdous amount from this board and all the great disers.

The avatar is that little picture in the left hand colum under your user name.

To use a clip art pic, fine the pic you want, put your cursor over it and then right click, hit save as, and save it where you can remember where it is, I either use My Documents or My Pictures.

Hope this helps!!!

Same here vicnmickey, it took some practice and a few boo boo's, before I got the t-shirt thing down to a science, but once I learned it has been all downhill since then. In the past 4 years I have probably made over 1,000 t-shirts, sweatshirts, mouse pads, tote bags, and some other unsual items. I buy the iron-on transfers by the case!!!

Thanks everyone! You'll know whethere or not I was successufl in the next week or so! :D

I just wanted to let you guys know that I just picked up a 10 pk. of the Invent It transfers at Big Lots for $4.99!! I didn't know it was such a great deal at the time, or I would have bought more! ;)

I can't see anything?! Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just my computer?
