Question for VB Owners

I am planning a trip to VB for a week in October with my extended family. There will be seven of us and I would like to stay in a beach cottage if I can get one. The problem is that I don't own at VB, so I can't reserve anything there until seven months out. I know I will have to call day-by-day to try to get into a cottage. Since we can go any week in October (but we need to know which week to shoot for now so people can start requesting vacation time), I was hoping for some input from VB owners. Which week in October do you think would be the least busy, so that I would have the best chance of getting a beach cottage for the entire week? We are planning a Saturday to Saturday stay for whatever week we go.

I am not sure if you will be able to get a cottage at 7 months. I believe there are only 6 of them. I would think, if at all, you should try for the last week in Oct. You might try calling MS and ask what is available for all weeks in Oct. If all are booked now, then you can make other plans. Hope you get what you want. The cottages are just great but I had to book it at 11 months to get one.

I own at Vero, but haven't been in October. There is only six cottages so good luck. I would also recommend calling ahead of the seven month window to check on what week might look good. Good luck.

Hi! Just wanted to do a quick update.

I checked with MS and no week in October looked good for VB beach cottages. I did not realize that October would be as busy as the MS representative said it was, but then I have never been there in October so I guess that's why I didn't know! Anyway, I discussed this with the family and we decided to try for September instead. I just finished booking a beach cottage for the week of September 6-13, doing it day by day, and even that was a near thing. The first MS representative I talked to said that they actually save one beach cottage for cash reservations, so there are only five available to book through MS. Since I was booking at the 7-month window, I wasn't sure I would get all seven nights, but I called exactly at 9:00 each morning and I got all seven (just got the last one this morning)!!!

So I wanted to say thank you for the advice you gave me, schwenksvillemouse and Merilyn. I appreciate it very much because it gave me the ability to get the accommodation I wanted for a whole week (just a little sooner than we originally planned). Now we can't wait for September to get here!

That's great. Thanks for coming back and letting us know how it went. I haven't heard of too many that have gotten a BC during the week on points. The one DISer I remember reserved during either Sept or Oct and then was never able to reserve one after (not sure what seasons).
