We are arriving home on the 26th of this month for our first Summer Trip. I was wondering if someone can advise me about jackets/sweaters. There are 6 in our party 2DS and 2DSD along with DH and I. I would love to not have to worry about the bulk of jackets, etc but don't want to go unprepared. We are used to Dec/Jan trips. Any help on clothing requirements would be appreciated.
From an Overpacker reaching out!!:rotfl:

Absolutely do not pack jackets or coats. It will be downright steamy at the end of June so no worries. Pack shorts and short sleeve/sleeveless shirts and don't forget bathing suits and plenty of sunscreen. It really will be blistering hot by mid afternoon and the mornings and evenings will be in the mid to upper 70's with humidity. The most important thing is to stay hydrated so something to carry a water botter in would be the most helpful. Disney sometimes sells these great bottle straps that you may be able to get there too.

Only thing is a plastic fold-up poncho if you get caught in one of those Florida showers and don't want to steam as you dry! (Or if you want to protect a stroller or other belongings.)

Good point...afternoon showers can pop up out of no where. If you don't want to pack them, Disney sells them for a fairly reasonable price and they have Mickey on them. Last time I bought them I want to say they were around $3 or $4.

Sometimes it's cooler to bring along those teeny umbrellas (assuming everyone's old enough to manage one), or to bring caps, drip-dry clothing, and just get wet. The showers are usually sporadic, and you can dry off very quickly (which will feel delightful in that heat ::yes:: ).
Those plastic ponchos can become unbearably hot in the summer (like a self-contained sauna :rotfl2: ).
And, as everyone says, drink TONS of water! :thumbsup2
You might want to invest in those cooling fans (some are water filled, but can be cumbersome); places like Wal-mart or Target sell some that can be worn around your neck or your wrist (just remember to bring extra batteries).
Have a :cool1: vacation!

No need for jackets at Disney in the summer, as noted above. I do sometimes bring a light cotton sweater to wear in the hotel room or a restaurant, if I get chilly from the a/c. You won't need it at the parks - if you go into a cool attraction, you will enjoy cooling off!
I agree that rain ponchos are helpful - Disney's version does cost more than the ones from the dollar store (I thought we paid closer to $7 each - is that possible?) but they hold up better. On the other hand, they take up more room in your pack, so we often don't bring ours back to the park, thus defeating their usefulness if caught in a downpour.
Hats are helpful to shield you from the sun.

Yikes! Bringing sweaters/jackets to Florida in June would be like bringing ice cubes to the North Pole!! DON'T do it!

You'll be wanting to worry about how to stay cool, not warm.

When Tropical Storm Barry passed through about a week ago, we didn't have our ponchos with us when we went to dinner. That was about the only time we were cold (and wet).

Thanks everyone!!!

When I talked about jackets I actually meant a windbreaker type that would work for showers and cool restaurants, but I think I will stick with the ponchos that I picked up at the dollar store and not worry about anything else. I haven't convinced my DH:sad2: , he still thinks he should take a light weight nylon jacket. Oh well!! We are counting the days especially since we haven't had any warm weather yet. It's 11C at the moment and rain, Yippee. Not looking promising for a great summer here in Nova Scotia.

No need for coats or jackets...not even a sweater. Plenty of light weight clothing...and don't forget the sunscreen and sunglasses. We just got back from WDW this week. The weather was typical Florida summer weather (80-90 degree days). It also has a tendency to rain in the afternoon (by rain I mean thunderstorms).
