Question for UK visitors to DL

I have read that unlike WDW, DLR does not offer free wifi in the parks. Do fellow UK visitors have any tips on how to access to the wait line apps if they have switched off data roaming due to the expense?

I've never understood why foreign visitors don't just go buy a throw away phone from walmart or sign up with cricket. It seems way easier than dealing with data and roaming charges.

We buy tracfones from Walmart and supermarkets like this. You just get a small amount and add it on like 20 dollars. Then throw away the phone at the end of the vacation. How annoying that there is no free wifi! Can you pay for it?

I've been thinking about this recently, usually I make use of the free wifi at WDW but like you say there isn't any at DLR. I really want use of the internet for wait times, what characters are out etc but replacing the sim while I'm away will be a nightmare for if anyone needs to get in touch and like you my phone is locked to my current network. I feel like I'm just going to have to suck up the extortionate roaming costs

When are you going? I ask because there have been some rumblings that DLR will soon be getting a version of FP+ and if that happens I would imagine they would need to offer wifi in the parks, so stay tuned!

I've seen these rumours online too but figured it will be after my trip (September) as I'm sure we would have heard more about it by now if it were soon

I have a phone that can take two SIM cards. I usually stay two weeks, and one of my local friends always gets me a prepaid SIM. The provider I normally use works with T-Online and I pay around $ 25 for a month work of unlimited calls (including international), text and a data amount I have never ever used. Texts and calls from my main SIM still come through if needed.

I was thinking perhaps we could keep husbands phone with normal sim - turn off data roaming but forward any of my calls to his phone. That would free my phone up to take a data sim for use in the parks. That being said the phone deals in Walmart seem really cheap - can pick up a smart phone for circa $20 then just grab a sim to go in it. Choices, choices!

For our last trip we used Telaway. I believe they have options for SIM cards for the UK but I know as a Canadian they were a lifesaver on my last trip and I'm using them again this trip.

Thank you Disney_Alli, I have just looked into Telaway and they do support the UK so I will add that option to my list.

The only free WiFi at DLR that I know of for guests not staying on property is at the Starbucks in DtD. The throwaway int'l. phones are also sold at the Best Buy vending machines in DtD, but WalMart will be a better deal.

Try direct from Tracfone website....they have lots of deals (at various times)

the only free wifi I know if at startbucks in dtd and the hotels have free wifi and theres a mc donalds across the street also has free wifi
