A friend of mine showed me his "offical" operating license for the monorail. Since you were once an operator, is there a way that I can get one as well? Please let me know. I would love to show him mine. Both our families are big Disney fans and are always bragging about what we did at Disney each time we get back.

We will be arriving the 19th of this month and our first park will be Magic Kingdom!

We are so excited :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

I'm not Tyler, but...
To get a monorail license, you need only ask to ride in the front of the monorail, and you will be given a license by the monorail operator..

We've done this several times going to or from MK to a resort for a meal or to Epcot.

We did the same in June 2003. It was at the Contemporary when we hopped on. There was a group getting out and we (my wife and our 3 year old son) just walked up and asked if we could ride in the front. The driver was really nice and let us in with no problem at all. As we started to take off the driver then handed out 3 'official' licenses. My son thought the experience was really really great.

Not sure if anyone will know - but is there a better time during the day then others to try to get to ride up front ? Sounds like something we would enjoy on our next trip :earsboy:

**ANYTIME** is a good time. The trick is... if someone is already waiting, ask to WAIT FOR THE NEXT TRAIN!!!! It's only a few minutes, and WELL worth it. Shortest line at Disney! :)

Sometimes the Pilot might not hand them out... in that case, just ask! :)

If memory serves correctly, you will need to ask at a resort to be a co-pilot. They don't do this on the general route. Well worth the wait. The view from up front is spectacular versus the actual monorail ride!

We were lucky enough to be sitting up front once when the monorail was detained while the monorail in front of us was just finishing up for the day. We had to wait while the switch track was going back in place before we could travel on to the Contemporary. DS7 (a monorail collector) was in heaven. The pilot told us that we were lucky as many people NEVER see this happening from up front!

We took the monorail from the TTC to Epcot and asked to sit in the front. Both my sons were given their "official copilot" licenses.

Co-Pilot cards can be handed out on any route.

I've been luck enough to be seated up front twice! Both were on general routes (none to resorts). I'm hoping the next time I'll be able to get up there again and ask for the co-pilot's license to put in my scrapbook.

I got my co-pilot license on the trip from the MK to the TTC. This was about 11AM. There was hardly anyone else at the monorail stop. A train had just pulled out so we were first in line for the next monorail. We were making small talk with the Cast Member and he asked us if we wanted to ride up front. Seeing that we were two 30 yr olds I was pleasantly suprised. I felt a little guilty that I took the pleasure away from a child. The ride up front was WAY cool.
