Have any of you had problems with memory issues? What kind of computer are you running if not, and what amount of Ram? I want to download this program but I'm afraid I don't have enough Ram. I couldn't find the info on their website that should tell you what the minimum operating system and memory you should have to run this software. Also, did you download the bundled software or just Adjust? Thanks for any info!

I uploaded the trial version. You tell them if you have Windows (which is what I have) or a Mac. You give them your email address and they will email you your key for the trial period. I have no idea how big the system is. I know that our computer has a very small amount of memory. And is running an older version of windows.

It was a piece of cake to get it loaded and added to CS3 :thumbsup2. For a while I couldn't find it. It's in your filters (d'uh).

The first picture I tried to edit was taken with my old Canon so just 6.1mp (it was what someone termed a 'throw away' picture because it was waaay underexposed - it was that Pop picture I put in the POTD thread). I was able to edit it but when I would hit continue (for it to leave Topaz and bounce back into CS3) is when I would get the error message. It was 3000(something)x2000(something) in size. The Topaz admin. came along on their complaint board and told me that my picture may be too large for my memory. I reduced it down to 2975xWhatever the default is and it worked like a charm.

I also worked on a few from Ft. Lauderdale that were taken with my new Canon at 15mp and had zero problem adjusting them. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this program. I know you can purchase it in bits and pieces. The Adjust progam alone is close to $45 (pulling from memory), or you can bundle it with 2 other programs for $99. I don't know that I would have much use for the other two that are in the bundle.

Here is a 15mp picture that I reworked yesterday.

*Note, sorry that my tech-speak is terrible. I don't know how to put what I'm saying into great big word terms to sound all professional !

Those are really nice photos. So if you have to reduce the size of the photo you're working on because you don't have enough memory, what is the largest you could print out? Don't worry about your tech speak --mine is just as bad if not worse!:lmao:Did you have to increase RAM or decrease the allocation of ram to PS? I really want to try it. Did your adjust come bundled with the Noise reduction software? If so was it the beter one?
Thanks!

I have a question to the admin. person on Topaz about size, and what is the largest-reduced size photo I could work with. I know the others that I reduced I only took down about 200 pixels in size. I would think that wouldn't affect enlargment. I'll ask DH tonight what he thinks about that. I have no idea if it would affect enlargement at all with such a small amount trimmed off.

I didn't increase RAM, no. I didn't decrease anything either. It was simply a matter of making the photo a smidge smaller.

When I put in for my 'adjust' key, I did get several other key's. I did get one for Noise, but haven't put it to any use yet. The adjust plug-in has a noise tab so haven't really messed with the other noise trial yet. I also got a key for simplify and vivacity, neither of which I've downloaded to use yet. I don't typically get too much time to play with my photos except for the weekends. I was so irritated with the adjust not working correctly that I didn't even think about messing with the other options :headache:.

I am playing with the free trial on my laptop, instead of my desktop...just because that's what I had with me at the time. It's got 1GB memory (seemed like alot when I got it, but not much by today's standards!) on a Windows XP machine. Absolutely no problem running Adjust...I have routinely been working with 10MP high-res photos (5-7 MB each) and it takes about 4-6 seconds in Paint Shop Pro 8 to run the action on the photo once I click on it in Topaz.

Thanks Willow Belle and Zackiedawg! I think I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens. The bundled version of the software seems like a better overall value than just buying each one bit by bit.

I agree about the bundle being cheaper DSFreak. I need to do a bit of research for them before deciding that I for SURE won't use the other 2 along with the adjustments add-on.

Come back here and post a pic or two once you get it up and running.

Just to share, here are some of my Topaz Adjust-edited Disney pics I've played with using the free sample (I think I'm going to go ahead and buy):

What's really fun is to use it on your 'throwaway' shots - the ones that weren't all that good, had bad lighting, too underexposed, blown highlights, etc...and see if you can turn them into something cool. Here's some that I never bothered to process or upload to my galleries before, that turned into something interesting with some Topaz work:

Now I too need to decide if I should just grab the Adjust, or go for the bundle. I've already got a decent noise reduction program I've used for years, so I haven't decided yet.

Zackiedawg - 2, 3, 4, & 6 are my favorites! Which adjust option did you use to do those? Since I'm only about 2 days into playing with it, I've been using the psychadelic (?) option, going way overboard on the processing just because it's so fun. I like how yours have the HDR effect to them.

TIA :goodvibes

I did the same initially...but the other options are growing on me more, as I like them to look touched up, but still generally looking like a photo.

Pic #2 and 5 were using 'dramatic'. Pic #1, 4, and 6 were using 'spicify', #3 was using 'psychadelic', and #7 was 'enhance contrast'.

Don't forget too - you can modify the various sliders in any mode to tune the look the way you want. When I use psychadelic, I tone down the contrast a touch, and add a few degrees of noise reduction...which reduces the number of lines that make it look more like a sketch. It gives it a different look. Spicify too tends to get the skies a tad noisy, though the colors it produces with extreme saturation are absolutely gorgeous - so apply a little noise reduction (.3 @ 75%) and it smooths it out nicely while leaving super crisp details. And Dramatic is probably one of my favorites overall - it really enhances the contrasts, and plays around a bit with the near-HDR style, plus adds just a hint of a painterly/sketch look to some sections, but still leaves it looking like a photograph. Skies can get very cool with Dramatic!

No problems with ram or memory here either. My comp is a little on the slow side but still works just fine.

Love using topaz. I like the versatility in it and how I can get such wildly different outcomes on each shot I have tried.

Justin, thanks so much for telling me which opitons you used for which pictures. I lurk on TMIP page and have been reading all of your reviews and seeing examples over there as well. Can't wait till June when I can take my new camera and new tripod to the world and get some (crossing fingers) fantastic pictures to work in Topaz with.

Thanks also Dcanoli for the discount code. That may have just put me over the edge in helping me decide to purchase the bundle. :thumbsup2

Justin thanks for posting your awesome photos and for sharing what options you used! :yay::dance3::cheer2:

Great site and good review AND they have a discount code for purchase...http://www.stuckincustoms.com/topaz-adjust-review/
Dcanoli thanks for posting that link and coupon code!:cool1:

Thanks Willowbelle for all your info as well...One more thing, what is TMIP page? I'd like to lurk too! :goodvibes

Don't want to break any rules on posting links to other boards...TMIP is a Disney photography site, with photos and message boards, specifically tuned to photography and Disney lovers. If you right click on any of my photos above, and go to 'properties'...the site address is the first part up to the .com. It's another fun site to browse, or to join the boards there too. The more Disney message boards the better!

Cool site! I like it! Thanks Justin!

EEEEEK :scared1:. I hope I didn't say anything wrong about the other page! I never even gave it a second thought. I haven't read all of the rules and regulations here to know what is alright to talk about and what is best left in pm's.

I don't know either - it may be OK. I just know some boards don't like mention of other sites, so I wasn't sure. I tend to just stay on the safe side. I don't think you've done anything wrong - likely they just don't want anyone doing any personal advertising of a profit site. It shouldn't be a problem for members to just mention that there are other boards out there, as long as it's not our own personal site attempting to pull people away from here or turn an illicit profit.

No worries!

Anne,

Have you been watching the Picture of the Day thread? Jeff (GDAD) posts them all the time.
