Does he tell everyone the same thing at the same time? Like if he makes an announcement that Chip and Dale are near the castle, will half the park make a mad rush over there? Just wondering how that works. :confused3

Yes he does. It's rather funny. I travel with 2 other ladies and we each have one and it's like he's in stereo when all 3 of us press their little hands to hear their news :) We really enjoy him. I'm sure he's not for everyone but from me you'll hear nothing but good news because we have so much fun with him both at the parks and at home. Remember that in May the new version comes out and this summer they will be releasing clothes what I don't know but hope we start to see something soon.

Thanks- I'll keep that in mind. I plan on ordering the new guy for our trip in May. I love Mickey in any form! :worship: :earsboy:

Actually, I don't think so.
Only Pals that are in a location, to receive the signal, will pick it up.

Pal has the data already inside him, and gives that information when he gets the correct signal.
The only information that the Pal can receive is a trigger to say something that is already inside the Pal.

For such things as announcing parade times, character locations, short ride times; there is a signal, that Disney turns on and off.
If any of this information changes, from what is already programmed inside the Pal, that new information will not be available to Pal.

Every time my Pal walked by a certain transmitter, he would tell me that the line was short at the Rock-n-roller-coaster. But he did this based on where he was, not based on the actual length of the line at the ride.
(supposedly this transmitter is turned off when the line is not short, but I think that they often don't turn it off when they should).

I suspect that character greetings work similar. If you are in a certain area, near a certain receptor, you will pick up the message.
Someone is supposed to turn the transmitter on and off so people only get the message when it is true.

Maybe they have multiple transmitters to trigger the same message, but I don't think there are very many.

I NEVER got a reminder for a parade or for a major show.
I got one reminder for one show (one that shows lots of times by the castle) and I got this reminder every time I passed by a specific transmitter.

(I got this information from a source that I consider reliable, but I am not 100% certain that this is the complete truth. It does correlate with what I observed.)

Don't order your pal, ahead of time, if you are going after May 5, and there is not enough time between May 5 and your arrival date, to have him sent.

Version 2.0 (with significant new features and information) is coming out on May 5.

We bought two of them but if they went off they would say different things. The only explanation I had was I was wearing it on the right and DH was wearing his on the left so maybe they hit different transmitters, it was funny cause we would keep turning to eachother asking what their Mickey said (actually they weren't even ours, but our kids, they just bored easily and we thought they were so much fun!).

Pal Mickey worked well for me in October, 2003. There were no mad rushes towards the event/sighting that my Pal alerted me to. BUT! I'm guessing that more people have them now, but I doubt that they are all over the place, so I would say go for it and enjoy it. If nothing else, you'll enjoy the cute little tidbits that he says.

Have fun!! :goodvibes
