What kind of snacks do you bring for your trip. I'm trying to find things that won't make too much of a mess or melt. Thanks for any suggestions. :)

We bring fresh fruit, pretzels and chips. Sometimes i make a bunch of sandwitches before we leave and we snack on those too. We take a cooler, and fill it with juice and water, and only a few sodas...........:wave2:

How about raisins, grapes, goldfish, string cheese, granola bars? Good question - we're driving too & nice to get some new ideas.

We bring grapes and apples (with a knife to cut them on the way) dried apples and dried cherries for fruit. My kids are little so even the apple slices can get a bit messy.

We also bring LOTS of snack size ziploc bags that I can dole stuff out in to include

Teddy Grahams
Cheese Nips
Graham cracker sticks
Ritz bitz Smores
Beef jerky
those cracker/breadsticks and cheese things
cubed cheese, but only for the first day in the cooler
fruit snacks with Disney themes of course!
Various snack crackers
cookies--chips Ahoy travel well
Prepopped popcorn

What my kids love the most is when I make up a mixed up snack. For instance, I will empty a fruit snack, handful of cheese crackers, some teddy grahams, popcorn and dried cherries into the ziploc. They love digging through there and finding what all is in it. Keeps them busier and takes longer to eat than just one item.

We also do sandwiched and juice boxes.

To break up the monotony a bit, once in awhile when we stop, they are each allowed to go into the gas station and pick a snack off the 25cent rack--they are like Little Debbie or something. That is a BIG treat and helps to revive good spirits!

We do crackers, cookies, chips, granola bars, and, since both our kids used sippy cups on our last trip, I had six filled and in a cooler for the ride. We do stop and eat our meals at a sit done place (even if it is Mc Donalds) so they have a chance to get out of the car. Also the greatest thing we got was the portable tv/vcr for the trip. I bought a bunch of videos off ebay and that at least kept my older DD 3 occupied and happy (for the most part).

I make enough zip loc bags with these snacks in them to last the whole trip and the whole ride home. We saved a ton of money not having to buy snacks at the resort or parks by doing this.

I am not sure how long your ride is but ours is about 20 hours with multiple stops. When we got home, we were shocked to see what a mess the back seat was. We removed their car seats and found a TON of food. I think no matter what you bring, be prepared to thoroughly clean the car after the trip.

i bought a mat for the backseat of my car, big vinyl thing so that any messes wipe right up and anything that melts will be on that and not on my nice new car

granola bars
breakfast bars
fruit snacks
cheese strings
frozen yogurt tubes
kraft breadsticks with cheese dip
goldfish
fresh fruit strawberries, blueberries, apples
frozen waterbottles
juice boxes
NOTHING with chocolate (don't need hyped up kids in a van for 20 odd hours)
liquorice
bits and bites

We always bring reduced fat Chips Ahoy (DH won't travel without them!), Quaker Cereal Bars, Pop Tarts, Disney fruit snacks, pre-bagged animal crackers, assorted Weight Watchers snacks (need to make good choices!), and a case of bottled water. Our snacks do double-duty as carrying them into the parks as well, along with the water. I paid less than $6 for 36 - 20 oz bottles of water at Sam's. That's a bit less than on property!:p We also stop for McD for the kids on the drive down and at Subway, which they also like. They get their milk there and get to be out of the car for a bit. Takes us about 20 hours, plus stops for food and potty.::yes::

Thanks for all of these great ideas! I can't wait to go snack shopping. :)

I am planning on making rice krispie treats for the ride (I am trying to get a mickey shaped cookie cutter, DH and I will eat the scraps).

I also plan on making fruit salad up (bite size pieces) Put them in plastic cups and use the saran press and seal, bam individual fruit cups.

I went to BJ's and bought chex mix in travel sizes, Slim Jims, fruit snacks, I want to get those double stuffed peanut butter crackers, and nutrigrain puts out nutrigrain bites in carmel crunch that are awesome (especially if you don't like the coconut taste of most granola bars).
