Can you see the other Downtown Disney area hotels from the grounds of SSR?

Unfortunately, yes. That's one of the main things we disliked about the resort :(

I think you can see the other hotels from some of the SSR parking lots. Have you been to DTD before? The view of the hotels would be about the same, maybe a little farther from SSR.
Looking at pictures of SSR posted on the DIS main site, I do not see any hotel views. You could always walk over to them if you wanted to visit, some have very nice restaurants.

You can see Downtown Disney from the shuffleboard courts near the tennis courts. No rooms there.

we've stayed there at least 3 times now and I've never had my eyes "drawn" to any other buildings---just didn't notice 'em. I was focused on looking for the hidden mickeys, I guess.
We were originally worried about the road being so close to some of the units and the view from those units, but it didn't appear to be an issue to us on our last visit. Took a walk around the Carousel area--the view still looked fairly scenic.

:confused3 I don't get it!

There's not much to get. I just prefer to be more insulated from the outside world when I'm at Disney. I can look at high rise hotels at home. It's just a personal preference, that's all.

We've stayed there 3 times and I didn't notice the hotels in the DTD area at all. We did have a beautiful view of the DTD area across the lake, we looked out at Cirque and it was gorgeous at night w/the reflection off the water and the colored lights...can't wait to go back! :goodvibes

Even if they can be seen from some rooms now I suspect in a few years you won't be able to see them as the foliage grows in.

We couldn't see them at all from the Springs. Well, we weren't looking for them, but none stuck out at us. I was surprised at how peaceful and quiet SSR was. :thumbsup2

The top of the Wyndaham Palace is very visible from many parts of the resort, but that's a rather tall building. You really can't see any other the other hotels.

Even though I don't think the DD hotels are that visible from balconies, more from parking lots, I can understand.

I feel the same way having to look at the Swan and Dolphin which means you must be an OKW or VWL owner. :thumbsup2

Here is a couple pictures from our SSR balcony:

Actually we're SSR and VWL owners. :teeth:

We bought SSR sight unseen, and while it's a lovely resort, when we visited for the first time we just didn't care for it as much as the others. Our main reason was the one I mentioned above...it just didn't seem insulated enough from the "outside world" for us. I'm sure we'll end up staying there in the future and it won't ruin our trip or anything, there's just other resorts we prefer.

We added on at VWL during our first visit there. I'm glad DVC offers something for everyone! :)

Thank you everyone for your replies. Although I started out thinking I'd like to buy at BWV or BCV, I'm now leaning more towards SSR and OKW. The hustle and bustle is great for a short trip, but the relaxing atmosphere of OKW and SSR is starting to appeal to me more. Besides, I have enough hustle and bustle every day!
