:D Hi,
We recently got a digital camera and would like to use it pretty much exclusively for our trip. I have a pretty big memory card (I believe it holds over 200 photos of the highest quality on my camera) but I am thinking this won't be enough for all of our pictures. I don't have a laptop so downloading them online won't be an option. I was thinking of taking my memory card to a Walmart in Orlando and having the pictures transferred to a cd so I can clear it and start from scratch. Has anyone done this before? How do you usually handle this issue when using a digital camera? Any idea how much it costs to put the pics on a cd? Thanks in advance for any info  .

I carry extrta memory cards with me (like carrying extra rolls of film). Memory has really come down in price the last few years and it is much easier than worrying about downloading while on vacation. Good luck and have fun!

I think we paid $3.99 for next day photo CD service at Walgreens last month. It was really nice to be able to download the pics and empty the memory card halfway through...

I know that places like Walmart and Walgreens usually have machines that allow you to download the pics on the card to a disc, usually for about $5. We didn't have a car though and instead decided to use the machines on Disney property (MK Exposition Hall, Epcot Film Center, Contemporary Sundries Shop, etc) to download our pics. It was a slow process (took about an hour from start to finish including travel time) and cost $12 for 120 pics. Pricey, but much easier than going off property imo. Just be careful to follow the instructions exactly with any machine you use or you may end up losing the pics. Make sure to check the CD before erasing pics from the card.

And I agree with pandamom, it might be less of a hassle to just go and buy another memory card. We came with 3 and used up all of them (took about 600 pics that week).

Since you will, at the end of each day, delete the pictures that you don't want to keep, you will be surprised at how many pictures you will get to save on your memory card. You should get an extra memory card just in case, though. But I wouldn't waste time looking for a place to download them.

I just returned - I brought tons of cards but ended up using one 256kb fully & almost all of another 256kb card - about 344 photos in total.

Thanks for the quick replies. I checked out the link to the other thread and I think I will just go ahead and purchase an extra memory card. It sounds easier. Thanks again.

It's pretty much been said, but getting an extra emmory card is easier then transferring them (and safer). People have lost ALL thier pics by using the transfer method.

Does your camera have a cable to hook it up to the TV? If so, bring that with you. At the end of the day, hook the camera up to the TV and review what you have taken. This gives you a better view than the little LCD monitor on your camera. You can start deleting some of them to save space. Also, the more info on the card, the slower it is. Try to thin the herd every night to keep the card reading and writing quickly.

I bring my laptop with me and download the pics everynight or so. I usually download one card, then put the other in the camera. I don't delete the other card until the next day. I am paranoid that something will happen to my laptop too! ::knocking on wood:: I do erase the other card, download, swap, erase....

I think you will be very happy using your digital camera on your trip. My advice: TAKE MORE PICTURES! The beauty of digital is that you don't have to worry about running out of film (usually) and the cost of developing, so always take more pictures!

Something that most people aren't aware of: if you happen to have an iPod (Apple's mp3 player), it can be used to download your pictures to rather than a PC.
