Question for those who have stayed at HOJO

Im trying to decide between a standard Queen room or deluxe Queen room. My main question is, how much further is it to castaway cove from Building 2 compared to Building 1? We have two young kids and I can see us spending a bit of time there. Building 2 looks quite far from it on their map, but I don't know how many mins walking time it would equate to. I was leaning towards the deluxe Queen (due to freeway noise concerns and a nicer view) until I saw how much closer building 1 was to the cove! Also, do most deluxe Queen's have a balcony? I know some don't, but that is something I can really see DH and I using when the kids are napping or in bed early. Thanks!

We just stayed in a deluxe queen last week. The balcony is small and narrow if you're on an upper floor- no chairs or anything- but you could certainly stand out there and chat. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space for our family of four. Honestly, the walk from building two to the water playground is maybe two minutes. It's very close. We had a room overlooking the main pool and it was super quiet. The pool is also quite warm!

We've stayed in building 1 previously and they've installed soundproof patio doors/glass. You can't really hear the freeway at all. I have to say we utilized the balcony in building 2 more and the view of the pool was better.

I don't think there's that much difference in the walk between the 2 buildings to the Cove. I have always stayed in the Kids Suite in building 1. Building 1 has the gift shop which is nice, and it's close to the ART shuttle and Mimi's. We have a reservation for Building 2 this time and my cousin has always stayed in Building 2 when we have traveled together. I think Building 2 is more secluded, private, has the laundromat, and is more relaxing because of the trees.

We are planning to stay at the Hojo when we go. Im meeting with a Disney travel agent friend next week to book. Is there a way to pick your room when booking on Disneyland site? We would like a bunk bed room but it only says standard room on Disneyland.

They have two different room types that offer bunk beds. A queen and bunkbed which is a small room only able to occupy 4 and then a kid's suite that sleeps up to 5. Sadly they don't allow more than 5 in any of their rooms regardless of size. http://www.hojoanaheim.com/what-you-get/rooms

We were in bldg 2 facing the pool. We had a deluxe without a balcony. Nothing special. I guess it was slightly bigger. I noticed every other room had a balcony.

Honestly I heard such great things but I wasn't impressed at all. Just a standard room.

is the waterpark/pool open year round? We want to go in November.

I believe it is. I think it usually closes sometime in Jan/Feb for a little while for maintenance. We are going in November too :)

Thanks everyone. I think I will go with the deluxe and will make sure to request a balcony room. I'm excited, DH usually wants the "cheapest" option, but is ok with the upgrade to the deluxe, so I'm gonna go with it!
