Question for those who have Sirius/XM radios

I've decided that I'm buying dh one for his birthday coming up, and have a quick question...

I went to Best Buy yesterday, and picked up the XpressRCi model, along with the the portable radio speaker dock (to be able to play it in the house and when we go camping).

But they also had the XMp3i there (looks sort of like a walkie-talkie), which advertises that it's much more portable. It would still be able to use the speaker dock I bought, but in addition he would be able to plug his headphones into it and be able to listen with just this unit, and no dock.

The reason I bought the XpressRCi was because I thought that the XMp3i was not a smart choice for using in the car, since Best Buy didn't advertise this one as being a car model.

But now that I'm looking at the reviews, it seems as if it can be, and is wired the same way as the one I bought.

Is anyone familiar with either of these models, and can you tell me if one is better over the other in terms of using in his car?

If they both work the same in the car, I'm going to return the original one and get the more portable one.

Thanks for any help!

When I renewed my sirius a few weeks ago they offered me a portable radio that can be used in cars or the home for $19.99 if I signed up for a year long hook up for $119.00.
I have sirius in my car and thought my son would like this but he wasn't interested so I turned it down.
Try and call sirius and ask them what they have and what type of "special" they are oiffering. I have found that they are very easy to work with, just tell them that a friend was given an offer and they will "find" it for you.
I had signed up for the year for $79 and then read about the 6 months for $20 and asked for that offer. I got it then my friend called and cancelled his year for $120 and got the 6 months for $20 after I told him about it.

Until recently, I owned a predecessor of the XMp3i (Pioneer Inno) -- it was completely portable, yet it did have all the usual car equipment for easy docking in my car -- absolutely loved it.

The only reason I got rid of it was because my new Chevy already had a permanent XM Radio installed.

If you haven't pulled the trigger, yet, you may want to check-out this long-time Sat Radio dealer and see if they can beat BB.
