Being from Ma. it gets a little chilly sometimes at night in AUg and a jacket /sweatshirt is needed. Will i need to pack these for my trip to tropical Florida? We leave in 2 weeks!

Chilly at night in August in Mass? Are you talking Massachusetts, USA?

Disney is hot, hot, hot in August just like Mass. No need for a anything other than a tee shirt.

See ya in Disney!

ok, maby not this year! This has been the hottest summer in a few years
i figured it couldnt be worse than the way it was this week up here!

I'm not the best person to answer anyway....I like cool air....my rule of thumb is, if its baseball season (April-October) then its ok to wear shorts and have the AC on.

the only reason you might want to bring a light jacket/sweatshirt is if you don't like air conditioning blowing on you as it occasionally happens in some of the restaurants...

tuesday, and wednesday of this week was a good idea of hot and humid temps, in florida during august. no need to waste space packing sweatshirts.

No sweats needed! (You'll be wishing you could take OFF some clothes! ;) )

Have a great trip - I'll be in the thick of it too! :cool1:

Agreeing... think LIGHT. Light clothes, light colors, and best of all, light suitcases ;)

We go every August. My wife brings a very light-weight sweater with her as she gets cold very quickly while walking through shops or at restaurants.

Me - I'd live in Ice Station cool if it were permitted...

florida in august? sweats? i don't understand..

hahaha it is extremly hot in august in florida.. think 90's during the day and 70-80's at night.. for example as i type this at 8am.. it's already 80 degrees..

I agree with others..sweatshirts aren't necessary, but if you get cold easily, you may want a light sweater for some of the restaurants! We'll be there in two weeks too! See ya there!

OK preparing for the flamesuit! I have gone each August for the past few years, I bring a sweatshirt! To me, when the sun goes down, it is a bit chilly. In and out of AC without sun, in the low 70's is chilly to me, so I say BRING THE SWEATSHIRT!!!! I Know when I leave on the 28th, I will be bringing mine!

We've traveled twice in August and have overpacked both times!! I leave next Friday and will be packing only shorts/tees. No long pants, no sweats. Learned my lesson!!!!

My family and I went in August of last year. I personally will never go in summer again. As was stated in an earlier post you may need one for an over airconditioned building but not for outdoors. My wife can be a coldy baby and said she never needed one outside. I think the evenings were the only time it was comfortable outdoors. I don't think it starts feeling cool until it's about in the low 60s (but I love MN winters). I couldn't believe how thick the air was down there with the humidity.

Tee-shirts and tanks tops are all you need. It seems like it 85 degrees & high humidity all night long at WDW!

 from western Mass...

I'm in the minority here but we did pack one lightweight hooded, zipped sweatshirt for each of us for our trip last August. The kids did use them on the plane (we had an early flight and they were chilled) and upon occasion in air-conditioned restaurants/attractions at night. During the day, we typically carried ponchos for all, just in case, but not the sweatshirts. This was a good plan except for our AK day where we followed a ride on Kali River Rapids with a showing of the Lion King. My son was soaked, and actually FREEZING, in the wonderfully air conditioned theater. So he asked for and wore his poncho indoors just to cut down on the chill! :rotfl2:

So if you have kids, you might want to consider a light sweatshirt... we did leave the long pants home and never missed them. Enjoy your trip! :wave2:

August is HOT HOT HOT!!! It will not be cool at night nor in the morning. Yesterday at around 9am, it was already in the 80s! Don't bring any jacket, but do bring a sweater just in case it's very cold in the restaurants. Other than than, just bring shorts and t-shirts, tank top and your flip-flops, and your sunscreen!! and sunglasses!!

 also from western MA

Weather in August at WDW:

Hot in the morning (80s)
Hotter early afternoon (90s)
Torrential downpour at 3:00
Torrential downpour ends at 3:30
Hot in the evening (85-90)

You will not need a sweatshirt. You will not need pants. You WILL need a poncho.

3rd trip coming from western MA to WDW in late August - and we love it.

thanks for all the replies, especially those from MA.!!!! No sweathshirts will be packed but definalty ponchos and sunscreen, good idea on the light colors too. 14 days and ill be in (i think we have Animal Kingdom planned on Saturday) Disney!! :cool1: :earsboy:

Just a note. The afternoon thunderstorms seems lately to have moved to early evening. Of course this is always subject to change but has been the pattern this week.
