When you have a confirmed reservation and you go in and modify it by adding a coupon, does it refigure it at a higher baseline price? Or will it keep your reserved baseline price?

If you use the "modify" existing reservation link on the National web site, National will give you a choice before finalizing the changes. National will present you with the details of the existing reservation (dates, locations, estimated total) and then present the same information for your intended modifications. You get to choose "keep existing reservation" or accept your modifications. So you can do "what if" scenarios safely without losing your current reservation.

I would make a 2nd reservatioin with the coupon - if the rate is better reserve it and cancel ressie #1. If you modify you may lose the better rate.

This is what I always do. Many times, you cannot simply add a coupon to an existing ressie. I can do this 15 times in a trip, saving money each time....

def. check it both ways before changing anything:thumbsup2

oddly, i've had the weekly base rate stay the same but my "extra days" tend to increase substantially during modifications, resulting in a higher overall rate.:confused3
