Hi ladies... hoping someone has had this. I've been noticing for the last 2 weeks or so, I've been peeing more. I don't normally go often b/c I don't drink that much, so I went to the walk-in center the other day. I don't have an infection, she tested my blood sugar which was great, and sent me for an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed I have kidney cysts, which apparently are very common. Thing is I assumed that's what was causing me to pee more, but the doctor called yesterday and said she doesn't think so, and referred me to a urologist. The funny part is once I found out about the kidney cysts Friday night, I wasn't going as often, but when she called yesterday, I seemed to be going more again. I am a very nervous person by nature, so I've gotten myself all freaked out it's something bad (although nothing showed on the sono so I guess that's good ?). My DH thinks I should wait a few days, he thinks they've ruled out anything serious, and now thinks it's more psychological than anything. Anyone have any thoughts/advice?

Thanks!

Your kidneys are probably fine. I don't know much about cysts, but my kidneys failed last year (I am on dialysis) and you don't go more, you go less. You also get a terrible, metallic taste in your mouth. See the urologist, but hopefully it is just your nerves. Good luck!

I agree that you should see a urologist just to ease your concerns. If infection and all other serious matters have been ruled out (sounds like they have) you may just be dealing with overactive bladder, which can have an abrupt onset. You don't say your age or if you've had children but pregnancy and childbirth can increased frequency due to the pelvic floor muscles relaxing. It doesn't necessarily happen right during pregnancy or afterwards, but it can be a subtle change and then, one day, it's there. It can also happen, in more rare instances, to women who have never had children. So, based on what's going on physically it could be that.

Or it could be due to stress. Much like people who suffer with IBS due to stress, the bladder is also susceptible to increased motility if you have generalized anxiety.

A urologist can discuss all of these conditions with you and can try a medication that will decrease your frequency.

I would go to the doctor while you are having the symptoms. If you don't you will be left wondering and it will bug you to death.
