Question for the guys

I love my Mickey one and sometimes even carry it on my shoulder for a purse when I'm not at the parks! I've included a link to an auction I found for it on ebay, just so you can see what it looks like if interested - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Disney-Mick...972?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43d9b3e7bc.
My daughter has one that is similar to mine but with Bambi -

They have a zipper in back and surprisingly hold quite a bit of stuff without looking too bulky. My husband, on the other hand, typically doesn't use a bag in the parks. He just wears cargo shorts and puts everything he needs in his pockets.

I use a Case Logic camera case with a shoulder strap. Fanny packs are awkward. The camera case carries a video camera, extra phone batteries, and other items like sunglasses.

My husband swore he would NOT be wearing one last trip. I said ok but where will you put your water, snacks, keys, wallet, etc? Don't expect me to pack around your stuff and mine too. :teeth: He did end up wearing it and liked having it just for convenience sake. They're not the most stylish or flattering things.... I chose a small cross-body bag this time and DH has mentioned maybe he could find something other than a fanny pack this go-around.

I used to use Fanny Packs for the park when all our kids were younger. As they got older we spread out the "portage" work to each kid so I didn't need to have one any more. Later I got into photography and started carrying multiple lenses, unipod, back-up camera, etc. and started wearing a backpack to hold it all. I've never had a problem with the "aesthetics" of wearing a man-pouch as I work a lot in Europe and Asia and everyone wears them there! "Skinny" jeans too, but my body isn't built to wear those....:sad2:

Nope, don't wear one. My wife occasionally wears one at WDW. I usually wear cargo shorts so I've got plenty of room for what I need (usually wallet, car keys and phone).

I switched from using a fanny pack to just using cargo shorts. I found a pair of cargo shorts that even has an extra zippered pocket (between the upper and lower pocket) that is perfectly sized for a cell phone. I can carry wallet, phone, P&S camera, a few granola bars if needed, portable cell phone charger, keys, etc... fairly comfortably. We also carry a backpack with us that DW usually carries (we take turns). I keep the tickets and fast passes in a ziploc in one pocket - and then transfer wallet/phone/P&S into the ziploc and stuff it into one cargo pocket for water rides.

Backpack all the way. You can carry things the kids discard throughout the day and, if you use a waterproof one, it acts as a great barrier on Splash Mountain. Though, to be clear, the wife still acts as a better barrier. It's just the backpack won't complain when it gets wet and you don't.:duck:

Replaced my fanny pack a few years ago with a travel vest, basically a vest with many pockets.
Scott-E-Vest is excellent, and I own several different models.

The Tropiformer is my favorite for the parks, very lightweight with removable sleeves.
My husband wore his vest like one of these out.. I ask him each year if he wants me to get him a new one... he says this one is still good.!! as another pocket falls off..!!! lol

Nope, no fanny pack for me. I use a backpack and just put it by my feet on rides with no problem. I have the kind with a sternum strap that really helps keep it from weighing me down over the course of the day. It seems like a fanny pack would be uncomfortable to have on while trying to enjoy a ride, plus a backpack slips off and on easily.

My guy friend wore a backpack when he was in the parks. There was no way that a fanny pack would fit everything he had to carry for himself and his kiddos! That being said, I think he would have still carried the backpack over a fanny pack even if he didn't have to carry extra supplies for the kids because the backpack is generally bigger and you can ultimately fit more stuff into it.

Neither of us would use a fanny pack but my husband carries an LLbean healthy back bag (in black of course!) in the parks. It's just enough for keys, water, snacks, packable rain jackets, etc. He would never carry the healthy back bag anywhere else though! He figures, in Disney, anything goes!

My wife and I each purchased the Jack Skellington messenger bag while we were in the park. (she purchased first, and i liked it so much i copied her):worship:

They worked great, easy to get on rides with, and enough room to stash anything we need, including a few in-park purchases or a jacket.

We have a Timbuktu bag. It's small (12x10?) with two main compartments but each main compartment has two separate zipper compartments which you can see into. I like that everything is secure and double zipped.

He used to wear one before kids. Now we have so much crap to carry around he's switched to a small backpack. It's really not a hassle getting on and off rides, he just takes it off as we're lined up to board so he's ready to go.

I just found a new product called SPIBELT. I bought one for running and it's awesome.
It's not big but I can fit my iPhone headphones money keys in it....as we are going to Disneyland in three weeks I know I'll use it. Plus it's discreet and not geeky.

I'm not a guy, but my husband wouldn't be caught ever wearing one, and neither would I. Backpack all the way!!!

Neither would mine. He lets me carry the snacks and he has a water bottle that he hooks to a belt loop

I always carry a backpack instead, in fact when we read in the "Unofficial Guide to DLR" that they recommended Fanny Packs, my wife and I both stopped and looked at each other like, "did we just read that correctly?"

We prefer a backpack in case of any photos, or souvenirs, and as a place for jackets, snacks/water, ADR info, etc.

I always wear one...... I keep my wallet in it as I feel safer doing that then having it in my pocket.

I also wear a smaller backpack for water, snacks, cameras etc as well. I have not had any issues taking it on rides.

My DH, a company president, wears a sleek black fanny pack every single day, whether he's at work or on vacation in a Disney park. There is simply no way that he can fit in his suit pockets all he goes around with: wallet, credit cards, asthma inhaler, keys for the house, the car, the office, a small bottle of hand sanitizer, loose change... Is it cool? we don't know and don't care, as long as it's practical and he doesn't have to walk around with swollen pockets! It sure beats the 'man purse', which he used to have and tended to forget! Yikes!
