Hey everybody happy Tuesday!

So I am donating a bunch of pumpkins to our local public housing volunteer homework club for a kids craft. I don't think carving is a smart option so I'm going to donate paint & brushes.

I'm wondering if anybody has any paint they could recommend for using with pumpkins, in the past I've found lots of products won't bind with what might be the waxy rind.

Also, I'm looking for a place that might have pumpkins on sale that the kids could carry home so if anybody's heard of any stores in the Northeast that have small pumpkins on sale please share. I'm guessing Walmart but sometimes food stores have sales on smallish kid can carry size pumpkins

Do you have any local places? If your in a city you may not but in the more rural areas like mine, the chains technically sell pumpkins but they generally suck. Most people don't get them there. We have a few farms, some with permanent year round stands for different things and some that just set up for certain items. Those generally have much more and better quality and selection.

Especially as a kid those were so much more fun to get them from. Just like how we would get trees from a christmas tree farm where they grow the trees and you cut it down (or if no one is ok with using a saw you can pay a bit more for someone to come with you to do it). Bonus is those trees last much longer too

Do you have any local pumpkin farms? You could probably get a deal if you were buying alot of little ones.

Oh and for paint for acrylic. It will work better if a sealer is put on the pumpkins first but this is a kids project and the acrylics will work well enough as long as the pumpkins start clean and dry.

Also acrylics wash out of clothes which will make all the moms happy.

Do you live in the Philadelphia area? Produce Junction has by far the cheapest prices for pumpkins. The sell mini ones for about 3/$1.50 and the small ones are I think 1.50 each. Or paint, acrylic works well, I would also recommend getting halloween themed stickers.

I did a pumpkin craft for my daughter's class one year. I purchased over 20 "smaller" size pumpkins from a local grocery store. Don't remember total cost. Instead of painting I opted for "stick-ons." Got them from Oriental Trading Company. Really cute, very easy. Can mix and match and no mess.

Thanks! I'm gonna grab some stickers and acrylic paint! What kind of sealer do you use in case they are waxy I guess I could do that but I don't know what kind of sealer do you mean this spray can? I'm not far from Philly but I've never heard of produce junction so I'll look to see if it's out-of-the-way . No pumpkin farms hear the ones that try to save the pumpkin farms usually just buy store-bought pumpkins and put them out in a field which is such a hoax
