I bought my DD a sweater at the Gap for Christmas. It's made of 98% Lambswool, 1% Lycra Spandex and 1% "Other fiber".

I just washed it for the first time...followed the instructions, handwash in cold water, dry flat.

My problem is, the thing stinks!:scratchin I mean it stinks like the other end of the lamb if you know what I mean:earseek: .

None of the other sweaters I handwashed today smell like that.

It's stinking up my room. I ended up spraying a light mist of my perfume on it.

Why on earth does it have that smell?

i don't know but i made the mistake of handwashing (like the label said) a lambswool sweater from j crew one time. it also smelled the place up. after it dried it eventually went away and then i dry cleaned the sweater. no problems with the dry cleaning.

DH and I both have those big fuzzy wool sweaters made somewhere in South America...100% wool...They said to handwash, but I always machine wash, and then lay flat to dry. They haven't shrunk and don't stink! LOL

I found that with those sweaters, the smell went away when they dried BUT when you wear them, your body heat brings it back.

I gave up buying them for that reason. You're stuck at work wearing a stinky sweater and come home with a sick headache from having to smell it all day!
