Question For Space Shuttle Launch Veterans

This is the first launch we'll see in person. I can't wait!! DH's coworkers recommended that we drive to a beach near Canaveral. It's supposed to have a direct view of the launch pad. That's the plan for right now, anyways.

As for the May 15th date, that's a "not earlier than" date rather than an exact launch date. I know that they delayed a rocket launch recently (by one day) with only like 3 minutes left to launch. DH was so disappointed, LOL! It was the first time we'd ever seen a rocket launch.

Chrissy--just FYI--the launch will be beautiful from your front or back yard (depending on the direction hour house faces). We watch them from either location (we face east or west)--countdown on television and then step outside as it lifts up above the houses.

Launches are ALWAYS worth any trip :)

NASA has moved the targeted launch date from May 15 to May 22.Soon after the postponement announcement,NASA released a launch time!It is 01:03:49 PM.I have changed my resort reservation from May 14-16 to May 21-23.How unusual is it to have more than one postponement for a launch?I would think that once a launch time is determined, weather problems would be the main concern. Is that correct? Thanks. :)

They also had a launch time with the May 15 date. I believe it was 4:15 pm.

The house faces due north :) Our plan for now is that we're going walk to the beach to watch the launch, though. Won't the view be even better from the beach? I was sooooo bummed to hear that the launch was postponed last week :( DH and I are really excited for this!

Thanks everyone for the replies.I cancelled my trip when NASA announced the postponement.I will be at WDW July1-9 however.A Delta 2 launch is targeted for July 1.Would it be worth driving to Cape Canaveral for that launch or should I just try to see what is visible from WDW?Thanks. :earsboy:
