Question for Silver Plan users

We have the Silver plan add on booked for our September vacation. And we plan on using our magical wishes for meals.

Okay, so my thinking is : Every wish costs us 34.00.So in order to get our moneys worth, we need to choose some of the more expensive restaurants.
Here is my dilemma........my youngest child is 10.Therefore his wishes cost as much as an adult's wish (34.00)I've noticed that some restaurants, specifically the buffet's (IE: Chef Mickey's, Boma,Crystal Palace and also even Boma's) offer a childs price for children 11 and under.

So, if we choose to eat at the above places, we would not be getting our money's worth from my son's wish becuse they will bill him (thus bill his wish) at a child's price.(Usually about $9.99 average for buffet's)

The only way I see around this, is if we choose one of the buffet restaurants, to pay for his meal seperately with cash, and save the wish.

I am sitting here wondering why Disney didn't examine this more closely, :scratchin and either raise the age level between a adult and a childs wish price or lower the childs menu age limit.

Has anyone else run into this problem? And how did you handle things?

Rule of thumb, Wishes are wasted for Breakfasts.

You are right in thinking that a wish is worth $34.00 therefore pick your eating establishments carefully.

Also, you can get good value with the Dinner Shows, such as Hoop De Doo and Spirit of Aloha. You also get ahead with Cirque de Soliel.

This is also a good way to try some of the upscale restaurants like Jiko, California Grill etc. Also restaraunts at Epcot.

Have fun planning and enjoy!

Thanks for the reply Scratch42

I think my best bet is going to be to go print out some menus, and plan, plan, plan.

TOOBOYZ4US: We are also having the same concern for our Nov. trip. I have been printing out menus for a week now and it has only become more confusing!! Well, the good news is I have plenty of time before I must make those PS's on Aug 1st.

Wishing everyone a "magical" day!

Hiya Tinkerbelle739!! :wave2:

It is confusing isn't it?
I have until the end of June before I can make our PS's, so like you I am reading my Passporter meal section and highlighting like crazy

Have you decided for sure on any restaurants yet? Or any that you will definitely skip this time?

Our "for sures" are :
Teppanyaki
Le Cellier
'Ohana

Our "maybes" are :
San Angel
Crystal Palace (This is a buffet, But,but....its POOH !!!!)

Our definitely "skip" list :
Sci Fi
Chef Mickey's (But only because we won't get our money's worth with a wish)

We also used our siler plan wishes for mostly meals and found that we only saved $$ by using them at the higher end places. But definately use them for the dinner shows (Hoop Dee & Luau)and for the Princess breakfasts (Castle CRT & Norway). These meals can really add up fast if you have a big family! We always did breakfast "on our own" because we aren't big breakfast eaters. By using our wishes, we ate great meals and saw shows we probably couldn't have otherwise enjoyed.

Be sure to check your bill after each meal to make sure the wishes were properly deducted. We had a little mishap last year that we thankfully caught. It was quickly straightened up at the front desk of our resort CSR.

Have fun with your planning. Remember to call for the PS's as soon as possible!!! Have a great trip!!!

Last summer when we did the Silver Plan we normaly paid for DD dinner or lunch. She is not a big eater so she usually just ate off of my plate or ordered off the childrens menu even though she was 14 at the time. We paid for our breakfasts. If we knew we were going to eat a "Cheap" meal we just paid for it. We had enough wishes that we did Cirque, went Parasailing, and even ate at the Yachtman Steakhouse (that takes 2 wishes a piece). The silver plan always works well for us.
Twice, during the week while there, we had to have Concierge credit our account because they would charge DD a credit when all she did was have something to drink. So do check your bill.

This is a two wish place, but boy you will not be dissappointed!

This is one of those places where I would never had tried prior to have the Silver Plan but now It's a must do on our list!

And for some extra fun for the kids, sit up at the Cooking area!

Incredible!
