Please please do not make this another dining plan debate ;)

I am totally confused enough by the whole thing anyway ....

My question is:
I am planning on tipping the 18-20% BUT what is the best way for servers: cash or credit card for the tips?

I usually leave a cash tip but I read somewhere they had to enter the tip into the register... again totally confused here :confused3

I want my tip to not cause problems for my server with this new dining plan!
At the same time, I don't feel comfy asking the server while I am sitting at the table, "Hey how do you want your tip cash or credit?" :rotfl:

So what is easier for you guys cash at the table or for us to use our cc and you put it into the computer?

I'm not a server but do have friends who are. They told me they prefer cash since if it is on a credit card it is added to their paycheck and they are taxed on it so it works out to be a lesser amount.

I usually tip cash at the table since I was told this....please correct me if I am wrong anyone who is a server.

My DBF is a server (not at WDW, but in an upscale busy restaurant in downtown Boston) and he says leaving cash is definately most preferable to a server.

I know cash is best in general but I wasn't sure in relation to this new dining plan confusion :scared1:

I am a server. Cash is always best! Not sure how Disney does it, and every restaurant is different but credit card tips can be tricky. Some places don't pay out the CC tips until they do the CC receipts (sometimes weekly or even sometimes monthly  ) Also, the way restaurants do the servers taxes vary. For instance, where I work my boss taxes us on 10% of what our total sales were, regardless of how much we actually made. Works good for me as I always make well over 10%. Some restaurants require servers to claim the exact amount they made. Cash tips give the servers more, lets say wiggle room;) when claiming how much they made in tips for the evening. CC tips are recorded and the wiggle room disapears.
